SO I have been looking for my next car, i have found a couple of different cars that i have liked. They are scattered throughout the U.S and one might be sold already, but these are the ones that i am really interested in

Can't narrow it down, need some feedback!

yah, the third one looks like it is in excellent condition. i also tend to just look for stock or oem vehicles.

funkedelic
08-31-2007, 11:36 PM
last one has smg and navigation, i really wanted one with nav but not even sure if they work in Canada, and i haven't decided about the SMG or not, have heard mixed reactions..

the last one is newer than the first 3

my top color choice was grey and white, but that laguna seca blue is really unique, i haven't seen one in person with that color.

deffinately the third one if you have a choice (ie price isnt an issue) that would be really gay if navi wasnt usa/can/mexico. You should deffinately get somebody to check them out before you buy them, especially if the price seems to good to be true

+1 for last one, because SMG rocks, and it's rolling on the 19" M67 wheels; hands down best looking wheels on E46 M3.

Buy a M that you can make your own. The blue one's chrome trim around the exhaust is alright, certainly not something I would put on my M. The AC exhaust on the 2nd M looks really stupid.

The third one. That's my favorite color for the E46!

funkedelic
09-01-2007, 01:48 AM
they are all fully loaded pretty much, so they all have their fare share of options with the exeption that the last one has nav and smg and is completely stock. It is more than the other 3 because it is newer and has slightly less miles, plus it has ALL options.

The price of them are all similar, last one is a little more, its really between the 1st and 3rd one right now. That blue is really selling me, and it is in amazing shape, but so is the last one so its hard to decide.

Just getting a second opinion.. i will ultimately decide which one i want because it will be my decision, despite what anyone here thinks.

Grey is a little quicker btw

Go for the last one. Don't buy a car already modded.

funkedelic
09-01-2007, 02:00 AM
its barely modded, besides the rims and coil overs.. but the stock 18s are included. Engine and everything else is stock, and besides i would mod mine anyway, what difference does it make if somebody has already done mods that i would do.

I wouldn't buy a hacked up car that has had a lot of perfromance mods, but in this case i think its a good buy, id change little things here and there.

If you think so. I'd prefer to start with a new canvas than paint over an existing portrait but I must say that blue is quite attractive.

Nah. Grey!!

funkedelic
09-01-2007, 02:21 AM
blue is my fav color but the m3 looks so sexy in grey! Besides i think the blue one might be sold because i cant get a hold of the seller anymore

so prob go with the grey considering its not sold!

thanks for the imput fellas

that blue would definintly stand out here. it's sweet. but the 2 other ones look good. second one looks like it's too low though for a car like that wouldn't want to fuck up the fenders....but i say +1 for laguna seca blue one.

I wouldn't buy any of them unless you have someone you trust drive and look at them.

I looked at probably 150 M3s before finding mine. rage2 will give you the same story as we were both looking at the same ones.

I used autocheck and he used carfax. You should use both to make sure that they both don't have accidents showing. Even then, accidents aren't always reported.

For instance, I found a clean white on black 2003 M3 cab in Chicago. I asked someone to check it out and the panels didn't line up, the reflector was chipped and it was obviously repainted. The subframe was also coming apart (car fishtailed when pushed hard).

2002s can have subframe issues.

I would worry less about what a car looks like and more about the history of the vehicle.

actually he did go for it, i told him i would pay him $250 more than the other guy. Big reason i think he went for it was because the guy only left a $100 deposit and won't have the money to him for another 3 weeks or so..

so hopefully it all works out

From that eBay ad:

I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS CAR(I BOUGHT IT OFF THE ORIGINAL OWNER WHO PICKED IT UP WITH ONLY 2 MILES ON THE CAR)YOU HAVE TO WATCH OUT WITH SOME LAGUNA SECA BLUE M3'S IN 2001 SINCE ALOT OF THESE WERE GIVIN TO THE DEALERSHIP AS DEMO CARS TO SHOW OFF THE RETURN OF THE M3 TO THE BMW LINEUP AFTER THE PREVIOUS E36 MODEL IN 1999)

I thought the 1999 was the end of the era? lol This guy has some classic shit in his ad that's for sure.

Welcome to the world of the M3 hunt, where you think you've found the car you want, only to end up finding out before purchase that there's a huge history of problems.

Cars like this turn up ALL the time. Have some patience... I'm going to guess you offered 27k, it's guaranteed to be a shitbox. Pretty much any M3 that I've found under 30k was a waste of time.

I know the pics make the car look great and all (I turned down a full Dinan M3 Cab SMG at an awesome price), I am 99% sure that you will be disappointed if u buy this car.

Iv'e posted at M3 forums for so long yet I still don't have one! I love M3's, id go with the 1st or 2nd one just because I prefer the 6-spd. Driving a 6-spd in Clagary's traffic would kinda suck and Id miss the SMG for the launch control and wonderfull downshifts. But I would feel strange driving without a clutch unless I was really keen on lap times.

funkedelic

ebay has nothing to do with a car, it is just another place to list a car. This car was on pretty much every car site out there including Autotrader.Com, where i originally found the car in the first place.

The car has a new motor, the story is on the page but i guess bmw replaced it with a new motor and it now has 6,000 miles on it and he has all the records, the car was still under warranty and all work has all been done through bmw dealerships,he sent me all the paperwork..car looks pretty damn good and well kept, it is less than 30k because it is a 2001 and not like a 2004-2006.. also because it has 80,000miles on the body..

it is a well priced car when you consider it to all the other ones for sale out there..

The guy is a bitch though we had a worked out price and then he said that somebody had left a deposit on the car before i did.. so i offered $250 more and he took it, but now he figures he can get more for the car so he just basically just started to avoid me..

i am looking at other cars again, i found one in california that has 33,000miles,completely stock, grey and its 32 so i might just go for that

dealing with americans is a bitch..

Wasn't the engine that was put into it basically a refurbished unit from bmw? (according to his ebay sale) As for the guy being a tool, that is the feeling the ad gives so its not really too surprising.

blinkme_210
09-06-2007, 12:08 AM
Haha, wow shit buddy. Just like benyl said, I would stay the fuck away from that M3! Doesn't matter what records he faxes to you, judging solely based on his eBay ad, the guy is a tool. I've never seen anyone try so hard to sell a M3, which sells itself.

funkedelic
09-06-2007, 12:20 AM
i dont care about the guy im not buying him im buying his car. The majority of guys ive talked to including dealership salesmen are complete retards, they don't even let you talk until they tell you every detail about the car.. seems like everyone is desperate to sell shit down there.

guy isnt even in a rush to sell the car and he has an extremely detailed description of the car because he just wanted to be informative since he figured somebody from out of state would be buying the car.. and wouldnt be able to see the car other than the pictures.I figured if he has 1800 pictures of the car its because he wants to show how well kept and what kinda shape its in.. if it was in shitty shape he would have 4 pictures up and a 4 line description of the car.

I pretty much gave up on this seller anyway so onto a new car.. who buys a car based on the seller anyway? the guy is older and has kids, he isnt a 19 year old that is incapable of treating the car well, he is second owner anyway.

Importing SUCKS...

You can't look at importing as just the paperwork process. You have to look at the entire process. From looking for the car, to dealing over the phone, to flying down and driving back. It is not easy if you don't want to buy a shitbox.
