Model a605x specifically , but I think any Pavilion desktop discs will work.

Please PM me if have a set or even the first disc. HP sent me a set but the first discs doesn't work.

They won't. Unless they're from the same series. Still, it's a tossup with HP's model numbers.

Model number "tossups" are the LEAST of HP's problems.

If the 1st disk didnt work, why not call and get sent another disk?

I didn't want to dray on in the forum about this but...

Just before I posted this request, I had been on and off the phone with HP for over an HOUR.

I don't mind waiting on hold BUT, at that point, I had been hung up on three times while being transferred, spoken to in two languages I didn't understand, been given wrong phone numbers, been given phone numbers that were out of service. Simply put, I gave up.

And all this was after I had spent an hour on IM with an HP customer care rep who told me that the required boot files were missing from disc 1 the night before.

I went at it yet again yesterday afternoon and apparently have another set of discs coming to me tomorrow. However, I have my doubts that this will solve the problem as these discs are usually run in batches.

Ah..I feel better now...
