With that new heat the iPhone will be getting from the iPod Touch, Apple decided to lower the barrier of entry to a much more palatable $399, and that's for the 8GB model, which just yesterday was rocking at $599 pricepoint.

wonder how long it will be before it is "free" with a contract.

I was wondering the same thing. I checked online and their store is offline for updates. I suspect that if you walk into a store, they should have the new pricing.

And some people did buy one for $399 this morning. 4GB model is dropped to $299.

Man, I bet there'll be a lot of cancel bids on Ebay today for people who are bidding up to $1000 for an unlocked 8GB.

Got to wonder what the heck is pressuring Apple to drop 1/3 in price? I don't see any killer phone coming on the market from anyone, any time soon.

I will likely buy a touch over an Iphone. The touch has everything I want without the phone and the camera.

I bet everyone who paid full price a week ago are ticked! My sister just bought one on Sunday but hadn't activated it yet. I'm telling her to return it and then buy it at the new price!

I will have to UPS overnight my wife's 8GB back to Seatle tomorrow and have my brother get another 8GB for $399..:rolleyes: .. I rather pay a 10% re-stock fee and save some money for software SIM unlock which can be done soon or even take that extra money and buy a supper sim.

Does the Iphone which was released today I believe in the Calgary Apple Ipod store, does Rgoers or Fido work with it? like are they the carriers instead of having to unlock the phone...
