Audi R8

Audi R8 in Toronto BUT it had Alberta plates on it, "ALP...." (I think). It was in the Daytona Grey colour with black sideblades on it. Asian dude driving it, short spikey hair.

The dark grey looks kinda boring on bright sunny day as it was today. Phantom, Ice, or Jet colour would look way better. The LED daytime lights looked hot but I'm wondering if they're as effective as normal daytime lights.

Are they available in AB yet? Maybe he's getting it here to bring there. I guess he's going to drive it ovet?

I beleive all of the R8's out in TO are owne3d by Audi Cananda... as demo cars. Not sure why they have AB plates though.

Correct. Audi was taking advertising photos in Yorkville yesterday.

And I would bet the Red one in somones driveway was a TT. I've been told no R8s have been delivered in Calgary yet.

Checked out a parked R8 that was ice silver with oxygen silver sideblades.:drool:

The silver colour does the car more justice, the interior is slick.

Glenmore Audi had one of the R8 press cars at their dealership yesterday so that customers with orders could view the car and take it for a short drive. My friend's dad has one on order (white with carbon side blade) and they both got to drive the car last night. Lucky buggers.

They said that there are only 14 R8's officially coming to Calgary over the next two years with deliveries slated for first quarter 2008.


Base price is $140K CDN with fully loaded models at $170K-ish.

I guess there are two in Calgary now: Saw this one this morning infront of the dealer, it looks alot shorter in real life then in pictures I've seen. Looks really good though, but Im not sure I would buy one over a 911 Turbo or Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Same here. Saw it heading out of Southgate Audi on my way to downtown on Friday morning. I think it may be the same R8's as in this photo, because I do remember the license plate began with an L**-8xx.

I agree the 997T is my dream car, and the AM just looks to sexy not to buy. The R8 does sound UNREAL though. Maybe one of the best sounding cars of all time IMO.

Thanks everyone for all the pics... the car is hawt... although I can't decide whether the Gallardo or the R8 is better looking.

Anyway, the white LBU-890 seems to be the only US/CDN spec car out of the bunch - note the side markers/reflectors at the front and rear corners. All the others are Euro spec and that means they'll have to be exported in due course.

It's also interesting how these cars have AB plates. Usually press cars are registered in ON or BC. Maybe the car doesn't look good at all with a front (well, a non-Euro) plate?

I was wondering the same thing. I checked out some other pics of R8's and it looks like it is a Euro-spec Rear fog light. It is deleted on the NA models.

From a European brochure:
"Rear lights in LED technology, brake lights, third brake light, indicator lights, rear lights,
one rear fog light in red clear-glass design, with reversing light and indicator lights in white"

I saw a few on the roads in the UK, the center bottom red panel is in fact a light, HOWEVER, in germany for some reason it is a reversing light while in the rest of the world it's simply another brake light. In the United States it is omitted entirely, however in Canada they seem to have left it as a brake light. Don't see why not...other than cutting costs in the most moronic places possible.
