Its time for an oil change.....

Engine mileage is unknown (yoko said 30-40k but i doubt it) also its the ZC engine.

What kind of oil? and how much?
What kind of filter?

I don't know where you stay at, but go to an Discount Auto Parts and go to the filter section. There, go to the book infront of the filters and look up your car and find the number. Then look for the filter with the same number. Lets suppose it's at 50,00 miles, then you wnat to use 10W-40. If you want to start the engine in the cold, I would recommend 5W-40. Pure One is the best filter, and Mobil 1 Full Synthetic is the best oil (It increases engine life).
But you can use diffrent. For example I own a Toyota 4Runner. I would look for Toyota, 1999, 4Runner, look under PureOne and see the number, then, on the shelves look for the filter with that number.

Note: If where you live there is no Discount Auto Parts, there should be another part store.

Oh, you replaced your stock engine, you would need to check with the manufacture of the engine, if you built it, then you know what filter head you got. Check what oyu got in your documentation. But I would still recommend the oil, because it's of prefrence, and a PureOne Filter, just the one that fits your engine. As for how much, once you get the old oil out, let 4 quarts into the engine, then check your dipstick and see if it's full. If not, add 1 quart more everytime and check, and check, and check until it's full.

Both of these statements are non-sense :bullshit: If the engine calls for 5W-30 oil as for what the manufacturer has said to use, then use that. Do not change oil viscosities for no reason, that is bullshit and completely unnecessary.

As for Mobil 1 synthetic, I myself use this oil, and have had very good results from it. Since I have an autometer oil temp gauge, I can tell you for certain that it runs cooler than other mineral-based oils. But to say that Mobil 1 is the best oil, well, that can be debated. It is most certainly "one of the best", but to call it "the best" is just a sign that he isn't impartial for whatever reason, or he just isn't informed. There are MANY synthetic oils that "increase engine life" as he has said. So do your own research, and pick the brand you like best.

Stuff like Mobil1 Supersyn, Castrol Syntec are more than enough for regular street use and provide a higher degree of protection over dino oils. If you push your car harder ie. autocross, drag racing, sustained high rpms then use the higher end synthetics ie. Redline, Royal Purple, Amsoil. You get what you pay for.

I've heard that so many times I figure it's best be on the safe side and avoid Fram oil filters altogether.

Give Honda West a call. They have the blue OEM filters for about $25 for a 3-pack.

Go buy genuine Honda filter from Honda. As for oil, just get what the manufacturer recommends.

Yes, OEM filters are the best choice without spending $50 per filter. And yes, use manufacturer recommended oil viscosity / weight. But do feel free to use a nice synthetic oil, you engine will be happier

Aren't Honda (some) OEM filters made by Fram as well? As far as I know, you want to ask specifically for Filtech manufactured ones. Can anyone else confirm this?

that's what you have on your car too hopeless :nut: Passing efficency is 97% by the way...i don't know how great they are :dunno: Used them for a year and haven't had problems....but then again you really dont need much more than stock...if you are worried about filtering get a bigger filter that'll fit your car...like for my neon i can use a viper filter if i really want...

If you use an oversized filter, check that the bypass pressure is the same. Just because it fits, doesn't neccesarily mean you should use it.
