Whos got the fastest top speed on this site? Not what your car CAN do, but what you have done on the street or track.

My car only went 175km before the gov seemed to kick in. Or maybe my engine didnt have anymore power :)

my speedo only reads up to 180km/h. i think i've hit around 200. scarry going at those speeds.

I've gone 215-220 w/ a downhill grade. I've gone 200 on the flat(highway 22X).

I think it was pretty stupid now though, if anything had jumped out of the ditch or whatever, it would have been all over.

I just did 210 in the Stealth TT the other week in 4th gear(of 6 gears).

oh, and I hit a bird once @ 180. now i have a crack in my window. at least I killed the bird though(feathers all over the place, like i hit a big bug)

I took my car out Friday night on 22X, and got it to 190(I decided that 190 is faster than I should ever need to go, so I slowed down) Which is wierd cuz I have a book that says mines governed at 180. :dunno: Maybe my spedometers f**k.

yea, I'm pretty sure Stealths are computer limited to 155mph.

I've also gone 160km/h(GPS) on a 600cc snowmobile. It was geared for acceleration not top speed. now I have an 800cc.:D

Around 165-170km/h in a base, automatic '93 Sunbird with original shocks on the way to Cochrane. Speedo cut out at 160 and it accelerated a bit longer before fuel cut off.
Scary shit: every time I hit a dip the car would bounce like three times. I also didn't have a licence at the time.

Ya the engine in my car also came exactly the same in the 88-89 323GTX. A 4 wheel drive turbo hatchback.

The engine is basically a mazda miata engine, only built for turbo. fatter connecting rods, lower compression pistons, larger injectors, etc.

have you heard of gear ratios? you can always spot a liar about his high speed because the gear doesn't go that high buddy... you can have 4000 horse power.... but if your gear is stock and your RPM isn;t 15000rpm... then your a liar... i'm pretty sure the prelude gearing isn't even close to 300 kms... my car high speed is 245 i have had it there... if i had another gear maybe a lot high... so your 230 isn't too far fetch... but a quick calculation of the jdm gearbox doesn't let it go that high...

1. Aerodynamics. It takes either mad power, or very efficient aerodynamics (or a good mix of both) to reach 300km/h.

2. Gearing. If my calculations are correct, the Prelude does 124km/h @ 4000rpm. Redline's at 7400rpm, with 31km/h per 1000rpm, the theoretical top speed at 7400rpm would be 229km/h regardless of how much power you have.

3. It's not practical to compare 1/4 mile times and trap speeds to a car's top speed potential. The 2 aren't really related.

No probs. With the right amount of power, custom gear ratios, it can be done. But it's a waste of money to do it in North America because with a high top speed you sacrafice acceleration (longer gear ratios) and there's not many chances to run top speeds here.

I like to see that lude stay on the road at 300km, a 2mph cross wind would blow it into the ditch.

Bottem line is dom's 605rwhp 930 ruf does barely over 300km and are you saying that lude is in same power to weight class as the 930 with as good aerodynamics??

Bottem line is, i don't care how much power that lude has it does not even come close to having the aerodynamics to reach 300km

FACT there is not one speedo on the market that is truely accurate above 180km. In my GSR I have alot of power, enough to redline 5th and the speedo can read 230km and the Fields vtec controller which reads digitally from the speed sensor and does not do a digital to analog conversion like the speedo and it reads 210km or less.

In SCC mag last year had some fully preped top speed salt flat running civic and i thing they did a best of around 165mph which is about 265km and that is the fastest on record. So if that lude can do 300km you better get your ass to utah and get some madd cash for having the fastest honda in the world!! :rolleyes:

and the best radar tested ITR is 142mph at sea level which is about 227km given that we lose about 10-15% (a guess) power with evavation in calgary and the couple of mods give you maybe 5% power increase you still have less power then sea level so the ablitly to get even back to 227km is highly unlikely.

So when you guys bust out the radar gun let me know cause i would love to see your faces when the results are in!

I guess it is possible that the speedo might be slightly off. I have had my car (prelude) upto around 230km/h before and it felt like I was just going 200?:dunno:

A small note on aerodynamics. When I did my 293km/h run, the lights were off (flip up lights). With the lights on and flipped up, I could not break 275km/h. You can hear the wind a lot more too.

As for speedometers, with my SLK's speedo at 160km/h, I was going 155km/h (measured using GPS equipment). The higher the speed, the less accurate the speedometer, usually on the slow side. On the Porsche, my speedo read high because of my larger wheels/tires. My Blitz power meter has a speed reading, and it starts to read different at around 100km/h. I haven't verified with GPS yet though...

With my old 14 inch rims and tires my car felt fine at 165km. after that it got shakey. With my new 16 inch rims and new tires, it felt shakey at like 130km. wtf is up with that?
