i have a turbo h22 running 5.3psi and im just wondering if it is a bad idea to be driving it in the winter or if it really doesnt matter...i dont plan on hitting much boost in the winter anyways because of the traction problems but i just want to know so i can decide if i should start saving for a winter beater or if i should just carefully drive it.

Winter tires + low boost + common sense = :D

I had my turbo running in the winter with about 2 psi. it wasnt that bad with winter tires :dunno: .not saying its the best idea, but it does the trick

i would just make sure you allow lots of time before you spool the turbo so it gets its oil. the turbo won't last long with out oil....

i would look into using a thinner oil to help with that issue..

otherwise...aside from traction...you will be fine

your fine.
I drove a couple winters ago on a boosted h22 on summer tires.
Just be careful.

make sure you let it warm up for a lil while before driving

Pick up some less viscous oil and allow plenty of time before giving it some boost, you'll be fine.

No probs, ran full boost all winter long. Fun around empty corners, lol....

I'll let you know in the spring what it's like driving with boost and winter tires in a front wheel drive.. I really don't think it's going to be an issue at all

Turbo in winter is awesome! So much more power!

The best is when it is -30 and the density altitude is below sea level!

i drive my car everynow and then in the winter(when theres no moisture on the road), don't let your turbo miss out on that cold cold arctic air:thumbsup:

But YOU also transfer power "from the wheels that slip, to the wheels that grip"...

I doubt it's much of an issue with AWD. It's actually pretty fun. The only problem is when you can't turn you really can't turn and for me 7000lbs+ as dead weight is a bit scary

As for Front wheel drive --> LSD is your friend.

how about 12psi, twin turbo, RWD, no LSD?

I'll be fine... :D

Nah... I have 3 LSDs. When I put power down, all four wheels spin.

think about all these turbo Volvo and turbo VW driven in daily basis in Canadaian winter and in northern Euro, and they are ok so you should be fine.
