Interesting 5, AP is just weird, a very different book. It was probably one the first books I read for pleasure rather than as directed by a prof. Got me into reading though, it is an important book.

I like the contemp classic, but as far as non fic my 5 is non-fic. Also loved Krakuers Under the Banner of Heaven, that was a good book. I'd also recommend Den of Thieves. I'm not a huge fan of some of the newer "idea" non-fic such as blink, tipping point or guns/germs/steel. They just seem overly repetitive. Any suggestions?

Hmm tough to pick just 5, especially since my favorite author has a series that is 6 (soon to be 7) books. Oh well, I'll consider the series one book and give a stab at it!

- The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon
- The Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo
- The Princess Bride by William Goldman
- Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
- Romeo & Juliet/Mid Summer Might's Dream/MacBeth by Shakespeare

kinda funny i was going to put atlas shrugged as my number 1 too followed by Anthem.

but here's my list of 5 well maybe more than 5 hehe

atlas shrugged by Ayn Rand
Anthem also by Ayn Rand
1984 by George Orwell
The Pearl by John Steinbeck
Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach
The old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway

I do read some non literrary books but not very often. Lately for some reason I been reading alot of James Rollins books. They are not very well written but the plots are a bit weird in some of his books and move along at an incredibly fast pace and are a good read for the train.

I recommend Ayn Rand to anyone interested in philosophy. Ayn Rand's objectivism theory or in her words the simple philosophy of living on earth explores many ideals such as communism and explores the many facets of the human mind make for great reads.

For those individuals who selected novels by Ayn Rand, what do you think of her philosophical views ("Objectivism")?

Cant say I'm a big fan. I can't help think that ethics should be more then self interest.
