Dalhousie? So it's gonna be in the station? They have enough room there? I didn't even know theres vacant stores there.

09-11-2007, 10:27 PM
yay, finally somewhere close, but where exactly in dalhousie will it be, hopefully a decently sized location. Beats driving to the NE though.

AllGoNoShow
09-11-2007, 11:11 PM
No, it would be called Dalhousie Station Shopping Center, not the station

Awwww... That sucks... the one in the NE is still closer to me because a) I haven't been in dalhousie and b) the NE is a much more direct route from my house or if I go there before work... I just hope they don't have more stuff than the NE!

EDIT: Changed "have" to "haven't" ... my typing sucks when I'm tired... or just my linguistic skillz...

Good move. Although I don't shop at Memex as oftern as I used too, still good to see they are only 10min away when I need them instead of expensive crap @ Compusmart.

I remember working with Minh at Futureshop. I was right out of high school and he had just finished university. He told me was going to quit and start selling RAM out of his basement......I thought he was crazy. At the time, RAM was $10/meg......how things have changed since then.

Why? Pawn shop got that demographic covered. :D

Don't think he hit 40 yet. Many has tried and failed. They have done it right and able to keep most customers.

I think they have to expand on-line. Corporate sale is a dead end unless it's for services. And if it weren't for their service, NCIX is kicking ass on the amount of stuff carried.

they have my business even after I moved.

Even if they are selling something for the same price I would still buy it there.

My uncle is the manager or assistant or something of the south store

HELL YEAH!!! Just in time for the my new computer build.

I would rather spend my money their rather than any chain store like Futureshop/Bestbuy.

Minh isnt that old, maybe late 30's early 40's, but I totally agree, amazing business savvy.

It's too bad you don't see them in the store more, sometimes i get the feeling that with expansion they are losing touch with their base. I mean I understand the need to grow, but if your store managers don't do things the way you would(or used to) customers are gonna complain.

It's a tough situation but we'll see how it turns out, I'm pretty thrilled they will have a store in the NW.

You have to remember that there are 4 running stores right now (including the corporate office) as well as trying to sort out the purchase and stuff with the new Dalhousie store. All the owners have made an honest effort to spend time in each store equally, I think they're doing pretty good actually.

I hope the customers complain about the store managers if they're not doing things right, that's the point!

apparently they agree, now the have "corporate specialists" and no corporate dept, can't imagine why I would want to wait in line for 30 minutes to find out my usual sales person is on his days off and nobody knows where my server ram is!

But casualty of expansion i guess...:(

Credit should be given to all the brothers .. their working together is what brought memx to where it is today. I have to admit I miss the way the store was run back when it was just the mcleod location, but they still manage to beat everyone else in the city to this day.

New website looks slick.

When they find enough people to man it.

In Calgary, that's probably never.
