We had a truck go 150,000 km... then the bottom of a con rod broke...

a good while. old oil is hard on the engine, but it will still last a while. not like running without an oilpump (i know what thats like from first hand experience). of course once it is mostly sluge then your time is limited. it would basically be like the oil pump when, as it couldnt circulate any oil. Are you planning an experiment?

and i suppose old oil would contribute to buildups that eventually lead to loss of compression?

yeah, that truck had NO compression... would start so easy even when it was -35

I will swear on any holy book, my uncle used to have an old BMW that never got an oil change for about 3 years, and it still runs today :rofl:

Now over 350,000km and still going strong haha
