so i was married this weekend and my wifes wedding dress got pretty dirty from being dragged on the ground and shit so we're looking to get it cleaned. i hear that it is pretty expensive so i thought i'd see if anyone on Beyond could get me a hookup. i don't need it to be free but i hear it's supposed to be a couple hundred bucks

let me know if anyone can help me out or knows someone that can.
thanks!

Should of just paid some young lady to hold onto the back for the whole day. At least that way it would only cost 50 bux lol

But yea congrats and hopefully u find someone to hook u up!

Haha we're nearing our 5 month mark of being married and my dress is still hanging in my closet, neading to be cleaned lol. I'm scared to get mine done, it has a lot of red beading and embroidery on it, and I'm worried that the color might run and make my whole dress pink. I know I need to get it cleaned of of these days lol, and properly storred lol. Good luck with your search and congrats!

Just stick inside your washing machine. No kidding. My wife did. Came out great. YMMV (your mileage may vary).

HUGELY dependant on the dress! Do not do this if she has special detailing or the dress is made out of a delicate material!

lol, neither is my wife's, and we've been married over 3 years. If you find a good spot, let us all know, maybe we can get a group buy,

yeah her dress was about $1100 so i think having it professionally cleaned would be the best way to go.

Congrats! Your pics are stunning :)

Sorry, can't help with the dress cleaning - its been a year and mine is still hanging in the closet. I heard it was around $300, which is totally ridiculous considering what the dresses cost.

GL, and if you find a good spot let us all know!

I think you should just leave it dirty - think of it as a reminder that your life is over... I mean how great of a day it was.

My wife's dress is still rolled up in a ball in a box in our basement for over 2 years now.

We looked into getting it cleaned and wrapped and but it was pretty expensive ($250+) considering she paid less than $300 for the dress itself.

What about hand washing it?

I think that when they clean it, they also treat it chemically so that it doesn't turn yellowish with age.

I could be wrong, maybe they charge extra for that, too ;)

just an update:

So i was talking to my sister and she said that Rosedale cleaners did her dress last december for $250. that was cleaning and boxing it up so that it doesn't yellow.

i guess that's the route i'm going with too.

Ouch. I think it cost about $1 in my washing machine..! :) I'll bet that's what they'll do to it.

basically what goes into cleaning it is the use extensive chemicals that will remove all dirt and stains but wont harm any extensive beading or sequins. we then provide a boxing option which entails placing the gown into an acid-free protective box to avoid yellowing from old age. i have heard from many that Care Cleaners in sunridge mall, beside the World Health Club does an amazing job on gowns and boxing as well.:)

i don't know what or how they clean it but i know that if it's damaged, they'll pay for it. i've already paid once and if i fuck it up, i'll be paying for it for the rest of my life. :nut:
