so basically its competing with the new SRT-4 and the Mazda Speed 3. it doesnt seem to be designed to compete with the evo anymore.

I like everything BUT the altezza looking lights. :D
Hopefully the actual car would look like this and perhaps I would look into buying one myself. hehehe!

not really, srt4 is about half the price of the sti. you can maybe compare them to the wrx.

Wish we were more inline with these guys.

USA

srt4 - $23K

speed3 $23K

STi ~$33K

SoC has lowered the price of the WRX by 2500 bux this year. I fully expect they will do the same with the STi, especially due to increased competition from Mitsubishi.

Also those renderings should be fairly close to what the car will look like. We know it's based on the WRX wagon...

Only if street version of STi look that good.

That STi badge in the grill really a rip off of current Civic Si. I don't really see the "T" until a second look.

I think it is the other way around. The STi badge has always been in the front grill.

Honestly i am okay with 295hp.......and uping the torque be 25...
Just think about it 325lb of torque in a hatchback this will destroy ALL

The Mustang GT weighs 3500 lbs. The new STi is supposed to be very close to that weight. I don't know what you are talk about here either.

Okay maybe Destroy all not true.....

But it will be interesting to see the USD version in the 2.5l.

It will be cool to see this WRC version rally.......
I personally would rather drive a Hatch through a rally then a sedan but thats my personal preferance.

To bad Mitsu is out of the rally would be cool to see this against the EVO X

The STI in Canada is about 10K overpriced. You'll be able to pick up the new BMW 135 for less. I wonder what I'll pick?

Well, the STi look pretty hot there.

Despite all the early opinions on it's looks... I'm actually liking the new WRX. They say it has a high mounted wing... but it's the same level as the roof --- looks fine to me.

I don't mind the tail-lights they look more white than cheesey shiney chrome, which is kinda interesting.

I liked the old WRX Wagon, but not crazy about fast 5-doors in general (though MSpeed3 is nice).

I just hope there's going to be an STi Sedan

Half the weight? they will weight pretty close to the same, i wouldent be suprised if the STI weighed more than the Mustang with it's AWD.

But yea,

STI for 50K
Mustang GT for 30K

which is the better deal?

^^^^ well your right you can't even compare the two cars
all i was trying to say was its impressive to see a 4cl engine produce 325ilbs of torque

When the mustang runs a V8

some have said it is due to their WRC ambitions.
If you look at the cars that are currently winning the rallies they are all HB.,something about the shorter wheelbase as well..it is a rally car after all built for the WRC.

I like the look except the front end slopes to much forward IMO.

Overall if the front on the STi looks better in person (just higher) I would consider trading my car in for that.

IIRC Mitsu will be entering WRC in 2008 with the next Evo (EvoX) and Subi with the new STi.

Gronholm and Loeb killed last year in Hatches (honestly if we had a focus like the Ford WRC one, not the cheesy focus with a body kit they released here, I would buy it) so I think most people are giving hatches a shot and seeing how it is goes.

Also subi had SO many issues last year with crap breaking.

I made a couple of wild assumptions.

1. The new STI WON'T be lower priced than the current model AND

2. The 135 WILL cost less than the current 335.

I could do the math for you but I don't want to spoil all of your fun.

 You could be right.

At the very least this is a normal WRX 5-door (as seen in the commercial) decked out to show what the WRC STi will look like (body kit, colors, graphics, etc.).

BTW you can't compare this to a SRT-4 considering they haven't made them in almost 3 years.. BUT with that being said.. I would take a SRT-4 in a heartbeat over that overpriced Swedish crap.

Definately an improvement over the bland WRX models. Something about the hatch shape still doesn't look right to me though. Price will have to come in at less than the EVO otherwise they won't sell any.

My guess is the STi will cost less than the outgoing model. 45-46K Range.

As far as 135I goes I am guessing it'll start around mid 40s as well. However it's hard to buy one of those cars with vinul seats and no sunroof.

Yeah they have dropped the 2.5i and the WRX prices. EVO is coming as well. I believe they will drop it by 2500 or more, for the base model. (IE no navi, leather etc.)
