This link is from a friend of mine who is currently taking the course. Apparently its a self-study course.

UBC Sauder (http://www.sauder.ubc.ca/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Overview1&Template=/CM/ContentDisplay.cfm&ContentID=3682)

EDIT: I found this link on RECA's website:
Appraiser Information (http://www.appraisal.ab.ca/education.htm) through here RECA Appraiser (http://www.reca.ca/licences_forms/re_appraiser/first_time_appraiser.htm)

I used to work for a company that managed residential appraisals for several large banks. We stood in the middle of the banks and appraisal firms. By far the most sought after appraisers had their "CRA" designation. There are a lot of firms out there and I think they can support you through the process.

That UBC link already put up leads you to a CRA designation.
