IMHO with the CAI you should put a bypass valve or a weather shield on it for winter... thats what i did and if anything it gives you more peace of mind about the hydro-lock come spring.

You pretty much have to have ur air filter completely submerged in water for you to have a hydro lock. I drove heavy rain with my civic and the filter was in the bumper...never had a problem.

yeah... i have an injen intake as well.. .but i put the hydro shield on it... with the way our springs are sometimes i feel safer having it on there... its mainly for peace of mind... a 20 dollar shield is a lot cheaper than a new engine.

I would take it off the heat and cold back and forth from your engine being on and off usually causes carbon hoods to warp

Yup... someone on here had theirs heat/cool so bad the clear coat actually cracked. Not to mention rock chips and other winter damage.

I keep mine on during the winter... But that's just because it came with the car, because the stock one was toast when I bought it. I've been through 1.5 winters with it with no problems. But I also have the 3m for the rock chips. If you have the stock hood lying around, I'd spend the time to put it back on.

I got a used CF hood for free that was written off in an accident because of a quarter-sized chip on the corner. The clear coat is faded. I use this hood for my winter hood.
