So, I'm trying to help my family out with picking out a new TV.

Basically, would like to probably go 40 or 42", and I'm thinking LCD would be ideal because the room it's going to be in has major issues with sunlight, and I may occasionally try to use it for gaming.

My mother will be the primary user of the tv, and probably about 50% of the TV she watches will be in SD, but we will get an HD box for those HD programs. So SD performance is important, and most LCD sets I have seen in stores SD looks like ass.

some of the sets I am looking at are:

-Sony KDL40S3000 / KDL40D3000 <<< what is the difference between these sets?

-Samsung LNT4042H

I am open to suggestions, but my top choices are sony/samsung.

Any good sites for reviews and info on these TVs?

thanks.

Yes, an XBR would be awesome... However, that is kind of out of our budget.. And IMO, I'm not too impressed with the Sharp LC42D62U, and it happens to be more expensive than some of my other considerations.

I guess I should have mentioned, I am looking at mostly around the $1400-1600 range give or take a little.

If you're asian, you must have atleast one sony big screen in your household. it's like against the law not having one. hahaha

panasoni th42 px 77 plasma with the antiglare screen which will drasticly reduce your glare, or else the Sharp 42D72u, the difference between the s3000 and d3000 is that the d series is 120 frames per second and the s series is only 60 frames per second

Sony hands down, regardless of the pana "anti glare" youll still get more than an LCD
