View Full Version : Mazda RX-8
I heard they were going to bring 10 RX-8's to Calgary this year but I have yet to see one. Hey, has anyone seen any RX-8's in Calgary yet?

As far as I know they haven't been released yet :dunno:
I remember at the Calgary International Auto Show Mazda was taking orders for the RX-8's. When I asked the sales guy, he said that they were only bringing 10 here this year and that all were already sold. I just assumed by now they would have hit the streets.

the 2nd shippment of 240 RX-8 just arrived in Vancouver last week, being inspected at the moment.
700 will be coming to Canada this year in 3 different shippment. There will be more than 10 in Calgary for sure.
I think about 25-30 in Calgary this year. I was just talking to the dealer on Center street last week, he said he has 10 on pre order and they are expecting 10 with a black one for display/test drive. he said it should've arrived.... last week.. but i dont think they left vancouver yet.
they are trucking them over to calgary, and i heard they'll actually arrive this week

Strange...my coworker "claims" an RX8 came into the shop 3 weeks ago for a quote on an alarm system....
I called BS, but he swears up and down that it was an RX8. We have been following the RX8 storie's since last year...so I am pretty sure he would know what one looked like in person.
So either some have slipped in early...or he is full of shit. :)

it might be possible that some of the ppl ( like dealer owner) somehow manage to sneak a few in earlier. Im very positive there is a black and a blue one roaming in toronto owned by the dealer owners

I've seen one in the Bay Area, but it is weird that there haven't been more. My guess is that they aren't available yet.

Yeah, hands down.
As long as we are talking production cars.
And as far as I know there isn't very much ford parts going into the car so that is a plus!

the vehicles that Mazda have that are still "real" (made in Japan that ford doesn't touch) are the Miata, Protege, Mazdaspeed Protege, Protege5 and the soon to come RX-8.
The rest............
Tribute = Escape
B4000 = Ranger
Mazda6 built in North America
mazdaspeed RX8 is :drool:

that's not true . the same frame from the rx8 is being built into the focus as we speak for teh next world car . ford has had more involvement with the rx8 then any other mazda . which is why it's such a big deal .
the miata, protege, etc .. are all "touched" by ford and vice versa .. tonnes of mazda and ford parts are the same .. ie svt focus pedals, door handles, brakes, air bags and computer, stereo manufacturer, side mirrors, etc ..
next time u see a protege and a focus next to each other, take a close look . there have been discussions of the related parts on other focus boards .

Yes I had this talk with the owner of the Northhill/Kramer dealership. But what he and I talked about were Mazda vehicles still being made in Japan. Those vehicles the Proteges (sedan,5,MSP), Miata, & the RX-8, they are still true "Mazda Cars" up to this date.
Yes the focus has some similar parts, and the Focus world car is going to be using the RX8 frame..............but thats what I and the owner mean, Ford is taking it from the Japanese side of Mazda.(the actual Japanese engineers) The RX8 was made from the bottom up from Japanese engineers pushing Ford Co. to invest in such a project.
Notice how I didn't mention the RX7, thats just like how i didn't mention the Focus world car......PAST & FUTURE I am just talking about the present line of models that Mazda has.
But yeah for the new models of Proteges like the 5's, they will have the same platform as the focus, and similar cosmetic looks
