where to get key cut (2006 wrx)

my friend wants to know where to get his 2006 wrx key cut so he has another spare...obviously not canadian tire (they rejected him)

i dunno how it works but he has a chip or some shit in it?! and subaru rejected him too to cut the key.. they dont do it but will program the chip if he can get it cut..any ideas?!

You cant just cut keys for newer cars. That key will only open a door but wont start the car. You need to order a new key through the dealer and have them program it and stuff.

I know for my ride (vw) its like 250 for the key and another 100 for vw to program it.

^ He is right, they are not cheap. The key is a $100 and it takes about 20 minutes to program.It can only be done through Subaru. He will need his key code (5 digits) and his security code to access the ECM. He would also need to bring ALL of his keys when he gets this done as well. Total cost i would bank on around $150 or so.
