hey anyone know how much a 1991 skyline gts-t was when it came out or what i should tell my insurance company as they cant find the car..

i haven't got it yet but i was wanting to know how much for insurance would be on it..

uhmm why do they need how much it cost when it first came out ? ... are you sure they didnt asked you how much you bought your car for from japan ? ........

Get an appraisal done on the car once its landed.
That will give them an accurate number on what the cars worth.

so i went to the insurance company today and it seems my VIN is wrong. so do skyline VIN's come in 12 digits or 17 like north american cars???

JDM cars dont have a VIN per-say... they have a chasis identification code. that would be the 12 digit number you can find.

oh alright thanks.. ya went to get insurance on it today and they couldn't do it cuz they couldn't find the VIN number. so there calling the main branch in toronto and i'll find out hopefully tomorrow.

ya same thing with my fairlady, when they come over they only have the 12 digit chasis code and it usually takes some time to explain to the insurance ppl that it doesn't have a NA 17 digit vin

If his insurance company is having this much trouble with a JDM car, my bet is they don't deal with them very often. You would probably be better off switching to another company. I had ZERO problems insuring my Supra.

"Your VIN isn't long enough"
"It's from Japan"
"Oh, ok then"
That was the extent of the conversation I had with the insurance company, and the registry.
