quick question abuot disk cleanup

i already wrote about my computer problem (i cant even save a notebook doc at this point)

i was trying to do a disk cleanup - before taking the computer to a pro.

Ive had it running since 12 this afternoon - its now 9. THe bars have not moved past 4.
I did try this months ago and it just as long.

is this normal??? I havent done a cleanup probably in years. SHould i quit??

Something is defiantly wrong. I don't know what your problems were exactly as I have never read your other thread. It almost sounds to me that your problem may be:

a. You have a virus

or

b. Your hard drive has bad sectors (aka dead)

It is defiantly not normal though. Even the oldest slowest windows shouldn't take much more then an our for disk cleanup. All it does is search for files that can commonly be removed.

I definitely believe i have a virus. im looking into taking it somewhere this weekend.

The question i have though is i have been able to do a few scans with different software and most have come up that there are no viruses - including mcafee. How is this possible??

also if i take is somewhere how much should i expect to pay for a virus removal - i just want to ask ahead of time so i dont get ripped off

disconnect from internet

boot into safe mode

scan

reboot in normal mode.
