hey guys im running 5psi on my ek d-series running 450cc and td40h turbo. Ihave RFL bov placed on chargepiping near the intercooler anyways, after taking it for a test drive i noticed a flutter noise, is this compressor surge? if so is it bad for the car? and how can i get rid of it? i know there are ppl who like that noise but im looking for a loud crisp noise that was the reason for my buying the rfl bov.

try loosening the spring on the bov ?

The RFL is known to flutter at low boost. But like ryanallan
said try adjusting the spring. Yes the surge is bad for the turbo, Everytime you shift or let your foot off the gas its putting a bit of wear on your turbo and causing some turbo lag. Your bov spring could be too tight causing the surge or its just your bov fluttering.

Yes surge is bad. I killed my GT40 in about 3000kms.

When you say your BOV is by the intercooler, which side, turbo or throttle body?

Mine did that same thing. I just cut a few coils off the spring and it fixed it.

make sure you have a dedicated vacuum source for the bov (that isn't used for a bunch of other shit as well) and it is not too long and the correct size hose.
