5th Gear...

question fellow beyonders.. my car ran smooth from 1st to 4th gear but when it gets to 5th when i press gas i hear a whistling sound... anyone had the same experience? thanks..

Ummm well I have had this only happen once and it was because I accidentely shifted into 3rd...

no mine everytime in 5th only i hear it whistle when i press the gas... its annoyin whistling sound too... not like cool whistle like turboz or intakes :(

depending what kinda car you drive. could be something to do with your tranny, like a bearing that's worn. we can't really diagnose anything from that description alone.

well i'ts an old civic, 420,000 kms (original) 1995 4door...

Well I don't have very much experience with civic trannies (odd isn't it) but sometimes depending on how the tranny is set up, there will be a seperate shaft for fifth gear, and therefore a seperate bearing. And when this bearing is loaded it may squeal. But it could be numerous things. Can't say for sure until it's checked out.
