My wife and I are looking for a new vehicle and we spent 8 hours today test driving, comparing, mulling over the final 2 cars that we will be choosing one from.

Quite simply both cars are within $ 1000.00 of each other, so the money thing isn't really an issue here for us. Here are our two finalists:

1. 2008 Nissan Altima 3.5 se Coupe $ 37,900 + taxes

2. 2008 Honda Accord EX-L Coupe $ 36,900 + taxes

We are both coming from bad experiences with GM cars previously and I purchased a 2006 Hyundai Tucson last year that we have been plenty happy with. Now it's time to replace my wife's less than stellar GM product and both of the above two vehicles were mentioned to us a viable options.

What should we go with ? The new Altima coupe or the staple, yet re-designed Accord ?

Thanks for any input in advance :)

Import an E39 M5 from the US for ~$25k and save the rest for maintenance.

Reasons:

1) It has 4 doors.
2) It's the best car ever made.

Honda, better quality and reliability than Nissan from personal experiences, plus it reminds me of a nice TSX

the last gen maxima my friends owned fell apart

I would bring something in from the states no question about it. Lexus/Toyota/Subaru are all good choices, perhaps a Legacy GT. Also, I believe Lexus IS cars are made in the states and you don't even have to pay duty. I think for around $38,000 you can bring in a 2006 Lexus IS 350.

The new Altima definitely has better style than the Accord but I've been hearing a lot of complaints quality wise from friends with new Nissan's.
Honda also holds it's value better, right?

If it were my $ and I had to choose between the two I'd get the Honda.

So far, my '06 Altima has been spectacular, and the service from Stadium has been excellent.

Of all the 14 cars I have owned, only two of them being brand new. They have been Nissans. (05 Nissan Frontier LE, and 06 Nissan X-Terra Offroad) I love Nissan. Brasso Nissan has been a great dealership to deal with.

Don't get me wrong, I have had a few hondas and like them as well. On a new vehicle standing however, I definitely suggest Nissan. As well as Brasso for a purchase.

The new Altima coupe is pretty nice IMO. If I was to switch to a car, that would definitely be an option.

Good luck in your final decision!
