United States Postal Money Order

So yah... I got one of these US Money Orders today from a guy in the States... and well... it's only negotiable in the United States. I went to the bank and I tried to have them cash it... but they harshly denied me.

Is there any place in Calgary that will cash this? I don't want to have to drive down to Montana and go to one of those "cash-advance" places...

It's the "green" looking MO. Any help would be appreciated! :) :D

dood your bank should take it, i deal with US currency all the time, there is no reason why they shouldnt, its garenteed funds, ask for a manager

They pointed out, on the Money Order itself, and I quote: "Negotiable only in the U.S. and possessions. See reverse warning".

Damnit... I will give this to anyone who wants to try it at there bank... providing you pay me the 80USD funds in cash.

None the less, most banks will still take it. What bank are you trying ?

They look a little different from what they looked like 6 months ago, but RBC cashed a couple I had back then, so I dunno. Try a Canada Post outlet, see if they can do it.

This happened to me too. Just contact the buyer and tell his fool ass to send you an INTERNATIONAL M/O like stated above. Don't be an idiot and drive to the states to get it cashed :rolleyes:.

Peter, I have cashed 20 of those money orders in the last 4 months at my bank ATB Financial, I would give you $80 for it but the M/O is made out in your name so I wouldn't be able to cash it.

Anyone try to cash one of these MOs in their USD account at their Canadian Bank? I just got one and i'm not sure if i can cash this... would hate to have to send it back and wait for another MO :banghead:
