He has posted the progress of the Z's build here on beyond. He had a TON of man hours into that project and it showed...

2M6, I am so saddened to hear what has happened. Nothing anyone can or will say will make you feel better...but just know they are other enthusiasts that will share your sorrow with you man...

At least the garage was detached from the house, it could have been way worse. Looks like nobody was physically harmed either. Best wishes on rebuilding everything.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Nobody was harmed, shoulda put that info in the first post.

It seems most likely that a welding spark caught a shop rag and slowly smoldered and eventually propgated into the inferno. My father was doing some welding on his Ultima about an hour before we saw the fire. It was burning for at least 15 minutes before we noticed.

Unbelievable!!

And my Z is not just a car to me, it was like an adopted son and I don't care what anyone says, that's how much it meant to ME.

WOW...Just WOW!!

So sorry to hear of your many losses. In my mind...insurance does not even register for many of the collectables that you have lost. The Lambo, the mill, the 46 knucklehead, your projects and most of all your Z!!

I wish you the best of luck on moving forward with more projects.

Post up your next "adoption" as life gets given to it. Much like you did your Z.

CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE
-----------------------------------------------------------------

At approximately 10:15 this morning, fire crews were
dispatched to the 1100 block of 5 St. SE. for a possible
structure fire. When firefighters arrived they noticed a lot
of smoke and visible flames coming from the detached garage.
Fire crews were quick to knock the fire down and after
searching the structure, they confirmed that there were no
occupants inside. Fire investigators are still trying to
determine the cause of the blaze. There were no injuries
reported and the house and garage were noted as abandoned.
Ten pieces of fire apparatus and approximately 29
firefighters responded to the call.

If this is your worst nightmare, then you need to learn some perspective.

http://forums.beyond.ca/st/193172/value-life-hug-your-kids/

I can understand being upset about losing your car that you put so much time into...but its just a car. Your life will go on just as it did before.

Those cars and projects were his kids. Not as valuable as a human life, but they were everything to him I'm guessing.

:werd: No kidding, other than loss of life of family or friends, the worst thing that could ever happen to me would be losing my car, it's not the money, it's all the time spent customizing, the memories etc...

Sorry for your losses, that really SUCKS. The Z was sweet, I remember when you first posted pics of it a couple years back. :(

Exactly right. I do value human life more than my babies but there was no human injuries here, just vehicular carnage at it's worst.

Thanks again for the eupport guys, it really means a lot.

I'm already on the hunt for another '90 Super White Twin Turbo and all the parts I had in the car. It's gonna be a long road ahead to get another car close to my Z's former status.

The Viper was in storage where the Z usually is. I almost switched cars that day, I'm KICKING myself for not doing it now, I could find another Viper tomorrow but I'll never find my Z's equal, it will need to be created all over again. Not to mention the inevitable fight with the insurance company when they try to offer me $10K USD for the Z.... They would've paid me what the Viper is worth with very little struggle but my Z had over $20K in parts plus the purchase price.....this is gonna suck.

The years and years spent building it.. the memories from the car... the many relationships that you went through and that were even destroyed because of all the time spend on the car. The hunt for rare parts... the 8 months waiting for that one special component... the $15K credit card bills... it's all worth it in the end for sure and to see it get taken away is so awful.

So just wondering, when did you guys notice the garage was burning, like was it blazing pretty badly by the time you guys caught it? It looks like you guys were trying to put it out with a garden hose at the beginning of the vid... but the fire grew to much for your ability to put it out. :dunno:

As absolutely miserable as this is, at least you guys have insurance. If you didn't, that would make this so much worse. Its hard to put a positive perspective on this disaster, but things could be even worse:nut:

This poor guy has worked his ass off for his rides, tools, mods, and the Z is not just a car that can easly be replaced. Maybe you should go look through his thread on how much time and effort was put into that car before you start running your mouth on here.

Gentlemen, please ignore the TROLL as it detracts from the true horror of what happened here in Arizona. He is obviously transferring his own sick thoughts and fantasies onto the events of others. Not worth anyone else's time. REALLY.

Hey ROB! I can say without a doubt that this is a one horrifying event and when you first called me that night it happened I could almost not believe it. I was thinking, is this April Fools day?! But then it sank in that you had burned the hair off your arms and face trying to save the things you loved dearest (aside from living family dude) and that those items were more dear to you in their memories and sentimental value than many people with their pets.

I cried with you when I watched the video and it may haunt me for a long time....

Here's thinking about you and hoping that everything works out well with the insurance and that they don't try to dick you over. But that's their job and you may have to hire an attorney to get out what you deserve from those cold-blooded a-holes.

I'll raise a glass to you tonight with my friends in the thought that you WILL rebound from this. You are young - opposed to me at 42!

Keep the faith bro! and let's get started on another BalaBUSA!

AR is not Arizona. You seem to be the retarded one here.

Come on, look at this bullshit. Making a big deal on the forums about how much he "loves" the car, yet there was nothing in place to prevent the accident. If you care so much about your stuff, then maybe it shouldn't be stored in such an unsafe shithole. And he just happened to be welding near some rags? WTF? Do you not practice any type of shop safety at all? Too many things wrong for this to just be an "accident".

I seriously cant even believe how big of a douche you actully are. Seriously everything you say makes no fucking sence, and you make your self look like the biggest tool i have seen on here in a long time.
Its it a pretty big deal to have your huge ass garage burn to the ground with everything you love inside. This is also a CAR FORUM, alot of people on here care about there cars more than the average joe.

It sure dident look like a shit hole to me? looks like a regular garage? What makes it so differnt? Any structure can burn to the ground. Where do you expect him to keep all his rides?
And he oviously wasent welding at the time of the fire. The equipment later sparked or cought fire.

Im sick of this fool already.

+1 for BAN

My mistake, I guess it stands for "Abso-fucking-lutely Retarded". Sorry chief.

Edit: You know what? I hope your house burns down while nobody is home and you get investigated for insurance fraud. You deserve it. Although, how much does it really cost to replace a trailer anyways?

Shit, thats crazy man. Sorry to hear Rob. I remember when I first joined beyond ages ago, saw your car in the original "post pictures of your ride" thread. Fell in love with 300Zx's as soon as I saw yours. Really sorry to hear about this mate.

What kind of Idiot does not post Firewatch for at least 30 Min after welding?

30 Min would have shown those smoking rags(Yea right..Who leaves oily rags around..Someone that was not paying attention in Shop class..Mr Johnson would be appalled) and allowed enough time to put the fire out.

Smelling more and more like insurance fraud.....And I'm SURE his inspector will find the same.

And as for the brain surgeon that posted the "Welder sparked" Welders have a REALLY hard time doing that when they are off. Unless the OP left the welder ON, in which case he deserves to lose everything in a fire. Because he is too stupid to breathe properly, much less use a dangerous piece of equipment.

Is english your second language? Because it looks like it.

Everyone is entitled to an OPINION. And that's what I posted.

I'll bet Dude is kicking himself now for regretting to hang out for 30 min or so after his father was welding.

Once the Insurance inspector finds the source of ignition was a welding machine, he can kiss his insurance claim Bye Bye.

And that, is a FACT.

I'm sorry, I think you've come under the impression that someone here cares whether you think you're entitled to your opinion or not. Regardless, if you act like a dick, you get banned. Simple enough for you?
