So I'm looking to buy a new smartphone and I'm torn:

The Motorola A1200 - $277 - http://www.puremobile.ca/Motorola/Motorola-A1200-Black-GSM-Phone-128MB/

Or the Motorola E6 ROKR - $310 - http://www.puremobile.ca/Motorola/Motorola-E6-ROKR-Black-GSM-Phone/

Which is the better phone here?

Also, if there are other phones in that price range, are there better options?

although the new Moto Q9h looks promising...

The E6 doesn't even have GSM 850... that would pretty much kill the deal right away for me.

But like others have said already, check into HTC... I have an HTC vox, which runs on Windows mobile 6.0, has wifi, and a slide out qwerty keyboard

Is GSM 850 important?

What makes it appealing is that it has the capability that I need for around $300.

The A1200 is a fantastic phone in my opinion. I would NEVER buy a non-850mhz phone.

The only issue I found with the A1200 is if you're a gamer. I once downloaded a game to it, but I couldn't control the player because theres no buttons on the phone. It wasn't a big deal because I rarely ever use the phone for gaming.

I had the A1200 for over a year, it was a good phone, but like previously mentioned - the whole no buttons thing was a bit annoying...and you needed to have nails, small fingers, or bust out your stylus when you wanted to navigate through your phone (except when making a call, the number buttons were nice and big) ... the thing that made me sell it was the hard to use keyboard (in the sense that each letter was wayyy to fricken small) that pops up when you text - and if you're like me and text while you're driving (which is very dangerous btw) ... then those small letters just aint going to cut it ...

I got myself an HTC S620 right now which I enjoy, but I'm just waiting for either the Samsung F520 or i620 to come out...

I don't know if its true, but I heard Samsung makes the best smartphones...

I guess it's too late now... but yes, 850mhz is important. Rogers unrolled it about 2 years ago, and the reception is significantly improved inside buildings/basements.

Ahh... yea well, like I said, whatever ones I don't like I'll either sell or give as presents. I just can't justify a $500 phone for "business" at the moment.
