You have to pass at least one SOA exam before being considered for employement as an actuary.

My friend is an actuary and she works at Mercer. I know she holds recruitment things at the U. I know they look for people on a regular basis.

sorry to bump up this old thread.

My g/f recently graduated with a Degree from University of Waterloo in Actuarial Science and Statistics.
And as is the case with alot of new grads these days she's having a tough time in finding a job.
Does anyone know of any companies here in Calgary that are hiring in these fields or even a contact person who she can communicate with?

Or as a worst case scenario she can work as an insurance underwriter till she finds something.
Intact insurance would also be a good place to check.
Has she passed any of the exams? She should get at least one under her belt to have a good chance of finding an actuary specific job.

I'll tell her to check Intact insurance, she's doing two of the SOA exams in May I believe.
