I bought a new Video Camcorder last night but realized that its kind of useless. I bough the new Sony HDRSR5 but realized how am I going to store video and how will I get it off the camera during Holidays since it only holds 2-3hrs of film when shooting in High Def and only has about 1hr battery time?

I'm thinking about returning it today and getting a normal widescreen camera that takes tapes instead.

What do you guys think?

The camera I bought.

My SR1 has about 6-7 hours of HD storage with a 30 GB HD.

Take your charger with you and don't use the screen as much to save battery life.

SR1? Is that an earlier model for HD Camcorders?

6-7hrs on a lower HD setting?

Are the lower HD settings better quality then a normal Camcorders high settings?

My camera can record up to 15hrs on the lowest HD setting.

high video quality unless?

hd is nothing new, all it means is consumers will finally get better video quality more of a broadcast quality.

hd is long over due. Sony had HD -tvs in the early 90s, computers where hd quality display over 14 years ago. its nothing new.

but the new part is anyone can have a video now that doesnt look grainy. the best thing since digital 8
