I'm just a little curious of the HD saturation on beyond.
Transformers will likely be a popular movie for HD.

No HD no BluRay, waiting till they finish duking it out. I don't want to pay $1000 for a beta

If you already own a 360, it's the cheapest way to start.

But stand alone player are quieter.

Wrong...Toshiba A2 can be had at A&B Sound for $249
And they are excellent at Upconverting...I know people who have spent more on Upconverters without HD.
Christmas will likely see Players around the $199 mark!

I really like my hd player that i got for the 360 cheap and easy to set up, and the fact that it cranks up the resolution on regular dvds is good for my load of standard dvds:thumbsup:

What copy is everyone getting? There are several different editions. If you buy it at BB, you get a figureine, but if you buy it at FS, it's in a tin.

im not gonna say that its an amazing improvment that is equal to hd dvds but it does sharpen up the edges alot

I liked the movie but this scene definitely made it better....so if I don't buy HD what's the point!

Have you ever watched a DVD on a computer and noticed how it looks better than watching a DVD on a 480p DVD player and flat screen? It's the same effect. Upconverting DVD players basically take a 720x480 video and upsize it to 1920x1080. With the extra resolution, it performs edge enhancements, and interpolation/extrapolation to guess and create the extra pixels, effectively giving you a better picture.

For non videophiles, upconverted DVDs are as good as HD. For guys like me, upconverted DVDs look like shit still .

Compressed dnlded stuff looks horrible on my new PJ!

Even regular DVD's don't look that hot but HD across 8 ft looks awesome!

Just bought it and watched it. The Transformers look really uneven now... sometimes only pretty good, sometimes great, but like a lot of movies, the CG doesn't look as good in HD as it does in standard def.
