SR20det tranny help

please help. my shifter pop back to neutral when I lift off the gas on 4th gear. It happen every time when I'm driving about 150Km. So I take out the BMP short shift and replace it wit the KA shifter, but it still doing it. I wonder if the KA shift the same as the SR20DET shifter. I don't have the original SR20 shifter. or anyone has the knows what the fix is? I'm not sure if the KA shifter doinig it or the tranny is bad? anyone please help

ka shifter is exactly the same. Sounds like something inside the tranny is screwy.....bent shift fork on 4th or something....did you get rammy with it lately?

no I just got the tranny and the blacktop install lately. dam:( :(

Yeah, it's inside the tranny. Cant think of the name of it (I keep thinking synchro but it isn't). It is a 10 dollar part, but requires tearing down the whole tranny to get at them. You're better off buying a new tranny, or doing it yourself if you have the skills.

Of course you could:
1. hold it in 4th with your hand
2. shift to 5th
3. don't drive at 150 in 4th
4. don't let off the gas in 4th when speeds are > 150

no I can't, say if you are pushing somebody hardcore, you must be doing about 170km in 4th and if the guy in front slows down a bit you by instinct let off the gas a bit right? that's when the shifter pop back to neutral and I'm like shit! that's what been brothering me. plus we I'm doing 170 and shit I need both hands on the steering wheel. By the way, anyone knows who can replace tranny for me not charging me arms and legs ?? Thanks for all the help here.

Why not just stop "pushing people hardcore", it sounds like that would fix your problem.

your looking at spending a good chunk of cash on this one dude

my suggestion is to just pick up a tranny from jdmsource if he has one laying around, and do your clutch at the same time if it hasn't already been done

all in all if you just replace the transmission it should cost you a couple hundred bucks

:werd: Why the hell are you driving 170? Last I heard the limit was 110, and at the track, you shouldn't be that close to someone anyways.

It sounds to me like you need your 4th gear and synchro replaced. Typical.
The other choice is to hold the shifter in place with your hand.

You can find a cheap sr20 tranny....actually i think Ogie is selling one for 50$

well to answer some of the confusions, the reason I'm doing 170 is when I'm racing or I'm on the straight in race city before corner 1.
