Anyone here drink Pisco?

I just ordered a bottle from Peru the other day. I've never tried it before but I was watching the Thirsty Traveller the other day and it intrigued me enough to buy some.

I ordered Soldeica Puro

For those that want to know what Pisco is go here

Really? Peruvian Pisco?

I'm only interested in Peruvian Pisco.

Do you have the name of the liquor store that you know carries it?

Chilean, are you sure you are not thinking of Grappa?

No, its Pisco. They make a drink called Pisco sour.

I grew up in Chile, it is very popular in there. (even more so than Peru) Every time I go back to visit I bring a few bottles back with me. Good stuff.

I have seen it at a few liquor stores in Calgary

No I did. Chilean Pisco is not as nice or refined...LOL

The only reason I mentioned Grappa was because of the way he described it.

But when I read the Wikipedia on Chilean Pisco it sounds like its not near as nice as the Peruvian Pisco.

Probably why the Thirsty Traveller did the show on Peruvian Pisco.

Chilean pisco is slightly sweeter, and IMO tastes better.
Very very similar though.

I had so much Pisco Sour when I was in South America. Its was the drink of choice for everyone in Peru. I thought it was pretty nasty, especially with the raw egg in it. Maybe having one once in a while is alright, but don't drink it to get drunk.

Pisco Sour is a "cocktail" is it not?

I'm talking about Pisco straight out of the bottle.

I would drink it the same way I drink my Scotch I guess. Straight with two ice cubes.

Pisco Sour is the most common way to drink it. Like a lemon flavoured cocktail. Also common is "Piscola" where they mix pisco with Coke. You can also buy Pisco Sour pre-mixed.
