Carrera GT Crash Settled for $4.5m

The lawsuit was recently settled for a reported total of approximately $4.5 million. The contributions to the settlement were about 49% from the estate of the driver, 41% from the track owners and the event organizers, 8% from Porsche, and 2% from the driver of the Ferrari that was claimed to have triggered the crash.

Interesting I think is that change to the wall in the track for a stupid play area...

Interesting read though... I fail to see how porsche not putting stability control in their cars makes them liable one bit though :dunno:

Selling a dangerous weapon.

Some cars and bikes require the owner to hold a racing license. Many of these high horsepower cars should also have this requirement. Just because you have money, doesn't mean you know how to drive.

They should start handing out waivers when people buy knives, skates.. I could go on.

Don't give lawyers anymore ideas on how to make money.

Porsche won't force waivers, as this case has shown, waivers are useless when it comes to negligent behavior. Everyone knows the CGT has tricky handling, interesting that they wanted to fix it during development, but never happened. Another interesting tidbit is the engineer at Porsche that says the CGT's traction control system was left out in production because vibrations kept it from working properly.

interesting how they put the oversteering nature of the car a "handling problem" instead of a "handling characteristic"...
