Ya, my friend was thinking of going, and then me ride along. We both have motorcycle helmets...the ones he had when he went before so i'm sure their applicable. His car just passed a 300point inspection about a month and a half ago when he went. Any inspection for going on this track day? Can i bring a camera along? Thanks

yep cameras are allowed, but no timing devices of any sort (insurance and liability issues). Our inspection is very minimal.

There's got to be more people interested. I feel the urge to do some road course :D

Fuji
07-23-2003, 07:21 AM
NOTE: If you have not contacted me personally, paid deposit etc and are not on the list I will not count you as in.

If you show up to the track day and have not paid deposit without consulting me first, then the even will cost you $120.

Also, this event is for drivers who have had experience on the road course. That means that you have been out with us or another group at least one time with instruction or have gone through a driving school.

You have to pay a $100 deposit, but how much do you get back after you pay? Isn't it like $450 to rent the track??

Guys, I should mention this to you too. If you go off the track once you will get a warning, If it happens twice you will be asked to leave with no refund. This is just for the safety of everyone else.

We are on tomorrow rain or shine. We can still drive hard in the rain and it will reduce tire wear.

Fuji

Also anyone who shows up tomorrow that has not paid or consulted me prior will be paying $120.

Right now at my house, which is west of the city...towards bragg. Its slightly raining with lots of thunder, havnt seen to much lightning...just for some info

Edit: Its raining really hard

Fuji
08-07-2003, 02:59 PM
We are still going! The rain never stopped us last year. You can't drive as fast, but you can still drive to the limit and have fun.

At any rate the instructor is there now and said there is a clear patch that will probably move in.

rage2
08-07-2003, 03:00 PM
Yesterday, the storm moved through quickly and the track was dried by 4pm. Let's hope for the same today!

Fuji
08-07-2003, 03:02 PM
Yea that is the hope... but we drove in rain last year and I thought it was fun! I got next to no tire wear and the brakes are saved.

Fuji
08-07-2003, 03:32 PM
So I jsut check the weather board and the sever thunderstorm warnings have ended. The warning lasted from 2:54 till 3:19pm. The track will be damp, but fun. The weather may be cloudy, but will dry up as we get going.

ryder_23
08-07-2003, 03:34 PM
It stopped as soon as it started, lol. You gotta love calgary. its really clearing up out here...and more towards the south, it looks really really clear, compared to black dark clouds, so the track should be fine from any downpoors later on.

rage2
08-07-2003, 03:51 PM
It'll be dry by the time we start :). GirlRacer says it's really sunny in the south right now.

Track Day is Over...

Well, all in all, it was a good time. Some wet driving which proved to be interesting. A couple of good lapping sessions while the track was dry. It was a blast!

Too bad about the last lap incident, didn't know who that was, but hope everything is OK with the people in the car. (Looks as though they'd be OK, just shaken). Hope it doesn't cost too much to fix!!!

Thanks Fuji for getting this organized. Good job once again.

a lot of nice cars showed up this time. too bad about the incident though. is the owner of the car on beyond? i thought it might've been ferio_vti because of the ferio emblem on the grill. don't think it's his car though.

4wheeldrift

Too bad I had to leave early. Those Hawk autocross compound pads I've got in the front work fantastic, but they're transferring a lot of heat into the hubs, the grease in the front bearings was overheating. Didn't want to risk losing a bearing or two. Was a fun day despite all the rain. What happened to the acura?

he went off in the carousel and slid into the tires. he bent his A-pillar and a few other things.

Sure! Do you have it in a digital format that you can move via FTP? If yes, PM me and I'll give you some FTP info...

As for the incident, I think he just carried too much speed and went off the track. I didn't see it happen, just came around the corner and say the car, so I slowed down. Once you hit the grass, it wouldn't surprise me if you might actually accelerate cuz it's so damn slippery when the grass is wet! DOH!:banghead:
