Anyone interested in a poker tourney?

My ball team is hosting a fundraiser this Saturday Nov 3rd at Cash Casino. $60 buy in and $800 first place. The blind structure will be the same as the casino's regular tournament that will be running at the same time. The tournament is capped at 50 players maximum.

$60 buy in
4,000 starting chips, blinds up every 15 minutes
$800 first place

.please email me if you have any questions or would like to reserve your seat at [email protected]

What's the payout structure?

So 1st place gets 27% of the total pot, what does 2nd and 3rd place get? What percentage is raked by your ball team?

Payout Structure

1st $800
2nd $450
3rd $325
4th $225
5th $150
6th $125

We rake around 20% and the casino takes about 10%.

Do they offer a 2nd buy-in?

I know a lot of casino's make it so you have the option of buying more chips along the way.

I fucking hate that.

I think if you are out u are out, no option to buy more chips.

My friend and I may be interested.

Starts at 7:30 and with 50 players my guess will be about 2.5 hours if you made it to the top 4 or so.

Great game guys, that was a blast.

I made it down to two tables and then got knocked out by the eventual winner.

I went all in with KQ before the flop and he and another girl called me.

He had Q4, she had J7 :dunno:

The lucky fucker hit his 4. I'm not sure why she called...LOL

My buddy came in 3rd, so he was a happy camper.

I would definitely do this again.

Thats exactly why I cant stand playing in tourneys. Throw in $60 and couldn't care less about what happens Idiots calling an all-in preflop with J7??????? You can't even use strategy.

Might've just as well done a rock-paper-scissor tourney with calling stations like that.

Much rather do a cash game like a 4/8 or even 15/30. At least there, the ppl play the game and not just flip cards.

Well thats poker for you, it 80% luck, 20% skill. You can play a hand perfectly and still lose.

But it was for a good cause so who cares, it was only $60 and a lot of fun.

.

I would largely disagree with that. 60 buck buy-in is not that large and you will get many noobs playing at those levels still. At any event or buy-in you will see many noobs playing but then you'll see more at low level tournaments such as these.

If luck were THAT big of a part in poker then you wouldnt see people being able to make a living off poker tournaments and go deep everytime they play.

Wow someones watched rounders one too many times. Have you ever noticed how many tourny's these guys enter? These guys get knocked out of one tournament, walk across the room and enter into another tournament.

There's skill in poker. But there is A LOT of luck. Sure they make a fair number of final tables but they also play A LOT of poker

What you don't understand is the guys making a living playing poker are playing against each other. The top poker players have a certain respect for each other.

Its proven that luck is a HUGE factor in the game, that is why you see so many amateurs winning the WPTC with no well known pro's at the final table.

I agree there is a degree of skill for sure, but luck plays a very large factor.

I agree completely with your first paragraph. No denying that they have that respect with each other.

Luck can play a HUGE factor in poker but then I'm suggesting that players with skill will always succeed further than players that rely on luck/sucking out - those that dont play pot odds or position or percentages.

I've played and placed at many casino tournaments and CPT events and there are a lot of similar faces at the final table each time. Also watching a lot of poker on tv and reading poker articles have made me believe that skill outweighs luck. Obviously everyone has their own opinion though.

Tell that to J.C Tran or Allan Cunningham or Nam and Tuan Le. Even current POY David Pham or two of the most respected tournament players Micheal and Robert Mizrachi.

I could go on all day with respected tournament players. Yeah these guys play poker A LOT but they rely on their skill A LOT and place in the money A LOT.
