Well my sister's friend just bought a toyota and will be buying a honda next year...obviously alot of people pick one or the other....so here it is how does one pick one or the other...which is a better car???

i would think toyota but i could be wrong.

well toyotas reliability has been faltering in the last few years, as well as their cars just being appliances, and the lack of cars in certain categories, so i am going to have to go with honda here.

I have one of both worlds.. obviously I drive a civic.. and my mom has had a corolla in the past and she now has the 2007 toyota camry.
I'd have to put my money in Honda. Toyota is too bland for my tastes.

why is the first post deleted? i will vote toyota, not for what they are, but what they were. honda has no sports history and other then the nsx it fails in that area. toyota has trd, has participated in all those winter rallies with its all track system, then there was the mr2 and the supras and even the turbo celicas of the day. and dont forget the initial d drift car the ae86 :P. yeeea.

I have had a 1 Honda, 2 Acura's, 2 Toyota's and 1 Lexus. I definitely prefer the Toyota product's. I find the finishing quality of Toyota's to be a little higher and better "features" (eq. auto lights, auto open sunroofs, etc which aren't a big deal but I like to have). Bland as people may say Toyota's are, I don't find most Honda's all that exciting.

Both are very identical cars. Compare a V6 Honda Accord and a V6 Toyota Camry...They're exceptional quality of manufacturing and efficiency, topping off with a very high level of reliability all of which ultimately translates into user satisfaction. For me, it's Toyota.

I don't know about that. I just recently test drove both the new accord and new camry looking for a larger replacement for the 3 series in my sig that I am selling. Both cars sucked. Felt like I was driving big ass boring rental cars. And that new accord especially is a huge boat. Japanese cars are becoming more and more like the old american cars.

And oddly enough one of the most fun fwd family cars that I test drove was the ford fusion. Not as quick as the accord or camry, but more compact and much better handling and more fun to drive. The altima was also better imo.

But for the orignal poster though... 'better' depends on what is important to you. IMO anyone looking at a new honda or toyota is simply looking for boring reliable transportation. And for that, you can't really go wrong with either. Pick whatever you think looks best. If you have a pulse though, look elsewhere.

The Toyota just made me want to throw it into a ditch, hoping I might finally get some steering feedback to spice up an otherwise boring and uninspiring test drive.

This is a dumb thread that requires a dumb answer. Go Troll another thread and stop all your QQing it's sad.

I will revise my answer so your panties will come out of the knot they are in. I believe that Toyota is a better company because they have produced many RWD cars that have come turbo charged. However when it comes to more recent automobiles produced by Toyota and Honda I find Toyota to be me more boring and bland.

I hope you are now able to sleep at night.

Although Toyota's had recent quality concerns, both Honda and Toyota make some of the most reliable vehicles in the industry, with the best resale value.

The "best one" for you is most likely the one you enjoy driving the most.

Generally, Honda's are more sporty and fun to drive. Toyota has moved away from "sportyness" and performance cars. It's an educated guess, but I think that Honda markets their cars to younger, more thrill-seeking demographics whereas Toyota targets the older, comfort-seeking crowd.

that is a very interesting question...and i do thin one is better than the other...just different.

i find that hondas are far more durable and effient and toyotas are more sporty.

i personally drive a toyota supra turbo and it is awesome to drive...buts not the most reliable car out there. infact its not that great all considering...

i used to own a old 1990 honda prelude that still runs to this day and it just won't die. i haven't maintained it since i got it...i sued the cheapest parts and wouldn't fix anything until it i couldn't drive the car. it still runs..has good compression (somehow) and still has lots of power..and starts in minus 40 weather. and it was decent on gas and very cheap to drive.

that said toyota economy cars are very well built as well but if i had to choose i would actually say honda as i find toyota economy cars to be very blah. however ifd you want a sports car...i would pick toyota hands down.

Honda gets too much credit for their reliability. Early to late 90's Hondas were pretty average cars IMO and I owned a couple. Paper thin body panels and rustproofing was an absolute joke. Interiors in cars such as the Integra and delsol were garbage. Weak transmission synchros aplenty. As much as I love the B-series engines especially the B16A, they consumed far too much oil and water pumps regularily fail between 80 - 100 kms. Many other automakers in the 90's suffered similar issues but they don't have this superior reliability myth surrounding them like Honda.

As far as the 90's go Toyota and Honda aren't even on the same planet as Toyotas were built much better inside and out.

I have always been big advocates of both Brands. Reliability, Toyota for sure, however, that comes with the price of ultimate lack of design flair. I think Hondas generally are more asthetically pleasing ~ all reletive mind you ;)

Always exceptions however, better car company overall? In my eyes (the owner of two hondas)? Toyota

The reason both companies manage to sell so many cars is that they appeal to alot of different people for different reasons.

Reason they have the XRS Corolla and the Si Civic.

You can go base model of the base models or you can go nuts.

Accord sedan 4cyl auto, or accord coupe v6 6-spd...

The camry with its 3.5 is no slouch, I have some suprising kill stories from my time behind the wheel of an 07 v6 Camry LE. just too bad it has no manual transmission option with its v6.

The reason that there are SOOO many models of car on the market is the reason why this thread should not even exsist. Find the car you like, and buy it. If it's truely the one you like the most who gives a rats ass who makes it. It's got a warranty.

All ya'll better be takin this thread serious too ya kno. :whipped:
