What options locally are available? All state, my current provide has insured the car but it's, to quote, the most expensive car they insure...and they suggested looking elsewhere.

Hmmmm....let me guess....it's got a twin turbo V8 ;) I'm with State Farm but their car rates were actually a little higher than co-operators. I'm with them because their motorcycle rates were almost 1/3 of everyone else's - provided my cars were also insured with them. I think you might find small differences here and there but for the most part the insurance industry is going to screw you somehow. They know they got you.

Try State Farm. They classify my NSX as an exotic, but I only pay about $2200 a year at 23 years old with one ticket.

Jesus, before i turned 20 I was paying 4200 for my Z28 with them, with a clean record. What a difference a few years makes.

Your car is not an exotic and for that reason you should not have even bothered posting in this thread. Since you have a shitty record you will pay a lot wherever you go.

TD Meloche Monnex provides group insurance, if you're in one of the groups it's not too bad. I've had good luck with them on some pretty decent cars.

What exactly are we talking about here? Just about every insurance company has the ability to insure anything. Whether they will or not is another question.

Actually, when you're talking about a car worth over 250K, you will find your choices narrow quite a bit. A lot of places won't insure it. Monnex will and has very good rates. Many of the smaller outfits will require you to insure everything else you own with them to spread out the risk.
