You're thinking of murder vs manslaughter.

First degree is planned. (pre-meditated)

Second degree is unplanned. (Non pre-meditated)

Homicide = A person is killed by another person (The act of killing another person)

Murder = the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. (Refers to a charge under the law for the act of homicide) Or a group of crows. LOL!

Thank you Websters!:D

from the weblink

The easiest way to describe the differences between murder and homicide is that homicide is the killing of another human being, while murder requires the intent to kill another human being. Homicide can be used to describe any death where another person is at fault, but there are mitigating circumstances that can influence the charge of homicide. When someone is convicted of murder, however, they are not only convicted of a homicide, but also the malicious intent to kill.

so murder is just like a subset of homicide.

"Murder" is what we've been doing to TheLegend889 and his story over in another thread.

Homicide on the other hand is a crime.
