We alternate Canmore and Calgary for party every year with open bar and a nice meal... pretty decent for a company of 70+ people.

As for a bonus it usually varies depending on your personal performace and we were bought out this year so who knows.

not sure what the percentage is.. but a Christmas bonus (first year as a p/t designer was $50, 2nd year as a f/t designer popped up to $500), this year should be interesting, b/c I'm a supervisor now...

Payed for dinner + open bar with overnight stay (Delta downtown this year, tonight actually). Pretty good since there are almost 400 employees all over AB, SK and BC. Costs them a crap load of money to bring everyone + spouses to Calgary ('cause head office and plant are here) for the weekend.

Some company branded swag. This year are really nice 3 piece winter coats and some shirts. Nice because every dept. gets to pick their branded swag.

No bonuses, bonus time is March-April.

Xmas party(have to pay to go), no free booze(they say too much of a liability), no bonus. But the only thing I get out of it is that I get my week vaction off at christmas(that I have to book in august to hopefully get off) woohoo.

Small party with no dj but an ipod and stereo for music. Probably a few cheese and cracker platters. $2/drink bar, with money going towards a free trip for one person (to hell with that, I'm sneaking in booze, no way I'm paying for someones trip). And that's it, no bonus, no nothing.

Basically, sounds like something off The Office.

Roadrage
12-01-2007, 10:45 PM
A department lunch that's pretty rushed (no booze) and a hearty hand shake for doing the company proud and a friendly reminder that we still have jobs. Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll get a $10 gift card for Timmy's or something that I'll be too embarrased to tell my friends and family about. Not even dinner man...a damn lunch which we have to finish within 2 hours (including travel time).

Normally my company paid out profit sharing, but we are going public so we get to buy shares at the same price as the mutual fund companies do. (15% discount)

They match us up to 5% of income to date (11mos). Basically a one time bonus that will be transferred into my name in a year but must remain in place for 5 years before I can cash it out.

X-mas party, free drinks for 2 hours, door prizes. Best prize last year was a set of Titleist golf clubs. I won some gay light blue booze

I work for Jomax drilling. Far as I know, we get nothing. Other companies drop off chocolate, hats, shirts, cups and sometimes knives for us.

Right now we are in Tumbler Ridge BC. Its cold.

Goldman and Sachs pays their bonuses mostly to traders who get a percentage of the profits they bring in.

In the past they have had bond traders get $20-30 million dollar bonuses as they individually brought in $200-300 million in profits over one year.

It is a fairly common practice in the industry. I remember hearing about a natural gas trader at Enron here in Calgary that got a $6 million dollar bonus and was pissed because had he stopped trading in November of that year he would have gotten $8 million instead.
