Take your rhd key to a locksmith who drives a rhd work truck.
Be sure he has a rhd key cutter though. He also might make you pay in yen.

What differentiates a key cut for a LHD as opposed to that for a RHD? :dunno: Seriously, just tell them you want a key cut for a Nissan - simple as that. JDM fanboys FTL... :thumbsdow

Big difference man. You need a locksmith with a machine that cuts left to right. In North America, we only have machines that cut from right to left.

Send your key to Japan. It's the only way.

Kind of a stupid thread.....i had two keys cut right from Toyota for my rhd Celica, no issue.

Make sure you pick up a right-handed key-chain from them as well, if you ever find a place. Who knows where you'll end up w/o one.

take it to canadian tire, they will match the key in one of their templates. It should be a standard key for around the same year....if i recall they resemble 240sx keys...

As a somewhat honest answer, the normal 300zx, 240SX nissan keys are similar. At the worst case, order one of those super cool GT-R keys off ebay and get someone to cut it...

hahahaha reminds me of flanders' left hand store. i suggest you read this thread man. Ekizzle's JDM Rant (http://forums.beyond.ca/st/173647/ekizzles-jdm-rant-/)

a nissan is a nissan, no matter where you are in the world, left hand or right hand drive, so the same thing goes with a car's keys. your car isnt anything special.

Deffinantly go with extra insurance. My buddy was importing his JDM key and the container fell over on the ship. He got fucked over big time.

Also I would import em while you can. I heard news through the grape vine that they were changing that instead of importing a 15 year old key, it will be 25 years old. Expect higher key prices for the keys that are already here!

i used to cut keys at canadian tire. i used to cut keys all the time....dont worry there is a difference no matter what everyone says. see the difference between a rhd and a lhd key is that they are cut at a different angle. thats not a problem though, there is a different case for that, case R. so therefore let the guy cutting your key know it is a rhd key and you are good to go

just out of curiosity... did you by any chance look at the keys together and see if they were the same size/shape?

Supa Dexta
12-03-2007, 02:50 PM
Thats what you get for listening to someone from canadian tire..

And also beware the market has been flooded lately with cheap chinese knock off rhd keys, not unlike the car market with cheap rhd's.. Firstly they are 100% lead, so you'll notice they are quite heavy for their size.. And if you look at the small names on them they often say greddi, HK'S, or Apoxi.. You may have gotten one of those..

You gotta start on the right and work your way to the left for a RHD car's locking mechanism, otherwise the cylinder wouldn't accept the Key becuase it doesn't meet stupid M4D 7YT3 regulations.

the flux capacitors in japan require a differant type of garbage compared to the USDM flux capacitors availble here.

All you have to do is take that key, press it between 2 bars of soap. then take some molten metal and pour it into the mold, but be carefull it could potentially burn through your moms new shag carpet. from there all you gotta go is re route your flux capacitor to JDM settttings then hit up your local dorifto spot and your set to go.
