hi, I'm thinking about putting in a push button ignition for my car, but reading up I found some push button you have to put your key in first turn it to the on position and then push the button. to me that defeats the purpose.

are there kits out there that completely replaces the key. my key has a transponder so unless the key is in the car it wont start.

are there kits out there that replaces the key completely.

I'm hoping to be able to just hop into my car and just push the car to start it with the keys in my pocket. let me know if what I want exist or I'm just wishing too hard.

and if possible where should I look. I tried ebay, but I'd like to be able to talk to someone about it since I don't know much about it.

Thanks for your help

no there is nothing like that avail. as for as i know.
Even for remote car starters you still have to use the key afterwards.

when i bought my gt4 it had push button start with the key kinda useless imo if you wanna do it your gonna have to do it yourself
i doubt theres a "kit"

all you gotta do is hook the button up directly to the starter :dunno:

yes you can replace the key all together , I had it done on my lude, just got in and pushed the button and thats it, got it done by someone tho, He just put together the modual and did it, to replace the key all he did was , open the ignition pard where the key goes in, there was a plate there which he put some electrical tape on , and that was it

I'm 100% sure you will still need the key in position 2... or how does all the car's switched ignition powered components get power?

yeapp pretty much , I decided to put on a push off steering wheel also , a lil bit safer but you can still drive without a steering wheel lol

^^ Isn't that what the immobilizer chip in the key is for, as the OP has mentioned?

for a MAD TYTE push button start just do this:

Get a standard Bosch Automotive Relay and hook it up like this:

Cut your start wire at the key cylinder. hook it up to Pin 30 on Relay.

Take Pin 87 and connect it to 12v

Take Pin 85 and Connect it to 12v

Take Pin 86 and hook it up to a 2 wire button.. take the other wire on the button and hook it up to ground.

turn the key to ignition... press the button.. " BAM " your car is started...

lol or you could forgot about all of that waste of time garbage and just turn your key one more click to crank.. or even better, get a remote start then you can show your friends that the car starts WITHOUT anyone in it.

the 2007 corvette has a push button egnition stock, there is no key for the car, it is like a keyless entry thing and it has to be withing 10 feet of the car for it to start so thats a keyless igniton...maybe look into how it works on the vette and learn from there...but yeah its nice get in with it in your pocket and push the button to start and push it again and it turns off ...its nice

Its all cool when it comes factory and the vehicle has the intellikey or sentry key.. but its just gay in a 199X Honda Civic Hatch Base Model. (no offence to anyone) but come on.
