Hey!

My little brother just turned 15 and is in Grade 10...now, the dilemma that I am facing is what to get a 15 year old for Christmas...needless to say, I am much older that 15 and have no clue as to what someone that age is into!!! Besides money, what else can I get him?!?!

Any ideas would be great...and I would really prefer ideas from people that age...Yes, fellow oldies, I'm sure your ideas are as crappy as mine!! :D

Depends on what he is into. Video games maybe?

Obviously not 15... But my guess would be to take him to get some new clothes...

As Xamim... it all depends on what he's into.

I don't know what it's like out here in Alberta... but when I was 15, my parents paid for my driver training for my birthday... I took all the courses so that as soon as I turned 16 I could go get my license.

Gift Certificates? Does he like to ski/Snowboard?

video games, clothing (especially if it's from latitude/vireo.. 15 year olds seem to love that store), a new cellphone maybe, a watch, or a digital camera?

maybe video games related, gift certificates for whatever clothes 15 year olds wear now. Ski or snowboard equipment. on a comical note a case of beer wouldn't be a bad idea if he's a young drinker...not even kidding my sister bought me a bottle of vodka for xmas when i was 16. Parent's were a bit miffed but I was happy hehe

the problem with only buying a bottle, is that it will be gone w/i a weekend, if he got a fake id in a card, his parents would be none the wiser, and he could get all the alcohol he wanted ;)

I already got him an ipod touch for his birthday, which was last week...so, that's axed...

What brands are in these days? What kind of video games are in? What kind of music is popular these days? Basically, I'm asking "what's cool"

Damn, I feel old...

what's your price limit?

I'd recommend that if you go for clothing, definitely get a gift card for the type of store he shops at (ie a latitude/underground type of place or a source/frozen ocean), or even better get a mall gift card so he can use it at any store he pleases.

I can remember at that age I would get clothes bought for me for Christmas by relatives (my parents knew better not to) that would go straight to the bottom of my closet and never be worn. It would probably be best just to let him choose his own clothes.

a lot of kids wear billabong, quiksilver, hurley and the such for clothes if he's the skater snowboarder type.

i would give him a choice with 5 boxes with 2 boxes empty, one box with a 10 dollar gift card of his choice, a 25 dollar one and one that is 100 dollars.

This way its very exciting and you have a chance he gets nothing lol.

or he can totally opt out and just get a 20 dollar gift card. Given people at young age love to gamble. He'll try to shoot for 100 dollars. and come empty handed. :D

well if he somehow picked the 100 dollars, well.. he deserves it ;)

if the fake id won't work, snag him a gift certificate to a liquor store, give it to him away from the parents, and tell him you'll buy for him if he wants some. you'd score a lot of points with him if you did that, just make sure your parents don't find out or they might kill you.

if not, clothes work too

wow, almost everyone here is setting this kid on a road to being alcoholic or a druggie

He's 15, does he have a PS3? Xbox360? just go down to EB games and pick up a couple of games from there, or find out what brands of clothes he likes? or how about a sound dock for his IPOD??? Like a Bose sound dock, those are amazing! or even a little sound system to accommodate his Ipod and cds as well?? maybe a small tv???

If he likes skiing/snowboarding...a full day ticket on the skibus out to louise/sunshine that includes the lift ticket?

That way he can choose which days he wants to go with his friends?:dunno:

I was 15... ten years ago... um, yea... at that time I mostly got video games. He just started high school, so get him stuff that'll impress the high school chicks or dudes if he swings that way...
- a nice phone
- iPod
- ridiculously expensive jeans
- retarded $80 t-shirts (ahem, someone remembers them cK t-shirts)
- white sneakers from the 80's
- some cheap flashy bling from ben moss or something
- take him to Joey's to check out some high school tail
- beavis and butthead DVDs so that he can appreciate what high school should be like
- premium stationary and school supplies like five-star and hilroy so that the ladies don't catch him using ghetto shit yellow president's choice paper that smells like urine.

You want to responsible for your little brothers addiction?!

Sure get him some liquor here and there but not for christmas. In response to the people suggesting drugs: Don't be the one to introduce him to illicit drugs, at least not yet. Wait a few years where there is more self control and responsibility, unless he is already doing them, then buy him a dime bag.

Okay jokes aside, I think he would enjoy any electronics, what kid doesn't? Gift certificates are good, but they lack in wow factor. If your looking to rock his world and have the money for it, hook him up with a PS3 or xbox 360 and a game or two. Other than that all I remember getting from my big brother was a nice t shirt, some cash, or a gift certificate with 50$ on it. Good luck.

My problem exactly...that's how much older than him I am, too! However, I do really like your suggestions...very insightful!!

Thanks for all of the ideas! I have since got him something...

I'm aware...I tend to go over-the-top when it comes to gifts so, I didn't want to get that ball rolling when he's at the age where he'll remember...

It was much easier shopping for him when he was "just a lad" haha

For this year since the past years I had trouble finding the right gift for little sister and brothers, I'm wrapping money in newspaper ... call me getto, but I'm sure they'll be happy since they are not stuck with a gift certificate or probably get looks from family but oh well
