rear disc means lsd?
does that mean an rx7 with rear disc will have the bolt pattern for more common aftermarket wheels?
did the carb'd 12a's come with the rear disc/lsd set up?
how much does the 12a weigh?

Pm sent.

Only the gsl-se has the more common bolt pattern. Some 12's came with the lsd, if they have rear disc then it has an lsd. The 12s 1st gens I think weigh 2300-2400 depending on options. The gsl-se weighs 2500-2600 I think but I have mine down to 2400 and some weight reductions.

Yup it sure is. My gsl-se came without it(which is rare) and I love it. It feels like you driving a little go cart. It was more common for the 12a 1st gens to come with out it too.

where is a good place for suspension upgrade components, and any tips for balancing it out to retain the 50/50 weight distribution?

To keep the weight balance move the battery to the cargo bins behind the seats, remove the air pump, try and mount the engine as low and far back as possible like the rotary sits, remove a/c if it comes with it, get manual steering. Thats all I can think of right now.

well i like the way the rotary is mounted currently and i think it could be adapted to my idea quite easily.

i know one guy that was putting a 460 into his, but then pulled it out and put it in a mustang which has a best of 12.0 @ 120

it would have been fast, but like i said, i want to retain the 50/50 or as close as possible. another possibility is to eventually ditch the cast iron SOHC 8v head for the volvo aluminum twin cam head, but i'm not to worried about that yet, i think getting it running would be a big enough challenge ;)
