We all knew it was fast but here is one of the first officially published articles about how fast the GT-R is: Edmunds tests a 2009 Nissan GT-R and gets from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds; 11.6 @ 120.9 mph.

In regards to their own tests of other cars Edmunds also reports that the GT-R faster from 0-60 than:
Porsche 911 Turbo @ 3.4 sec
Dodge Viper (600-hp V-10) @ 3.7 sec
Corvette Z06 @ 4.1 sec

Yeah the Viper doesn't have AWD and Corvette has the ZR1 coming but the fact remains, the GT-R is undeniably hardcore.

With the sheer traction afforded by the computer-controlled AWD system, the 3.3 0-60 certainly seems reasonable. The power-to-weight hurts it in the quarter, though, as it's a full half-second off the Z06, which has run in the 10's showroom-stock with the runflats. Edmunds' quoted time for the Z06 of 12 seconds is a full second off the known pace, so it's possible the GT-R has more in her to give. We'll see about that, as I suspect the Edmunds crew was helped by the GT-R's electronic traction aids.

Wow very impressive. Looks like Nissan pulled out all the stops on this car. Is it me or when you open up the article and view the first picture viewing the front of GT-R in red it looks like a late model Celica?

Meh, I think the Celica took cues from it rather than the other way around. Toyota copied the design from Nissan, eventhough the came out with it some 6 years before, they still copied Nissan. Trust me... :D

I may actually have to buy one of these things, if we ever get one!

Anyone know of anything in the same or simmilar price range or higher that does the 0-60 faster? I think the LP640 does it in 3.9 but I'm not sure.
