Being in construction I've eaten at pubs all over the city. Most of the time pub food is the best.

But I have to give thumbs down to Last Straw Ale House pub in Tuscany. Went there on Sunday and had mozza/mushroom burger. overcooked meat, dry bun and absolutely NO sauce inside the burger. no ketchup, no mustard, no special sauce..nothin. Just a piece of mozza cheese that wasn't melted, lettuce, tomatoe and onion.

Today I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. I tried the Philly Cheese steak sandwhich. Most pubs make this sandwhich so melty-cheese-peppers-sauce it makes the bun soggy. This thing was un-edible it was so dry. Again, bun overcooked..almost black on top and the meat was just the same...it was the beef they use in the beef dip and it was so dry I couldn't swallow it.
fries were over done too. For the first time ever I sent the the whole meal back and asked for nothing in return....just drank my beers and then went to Macs for thier one of their re-heated burgers.

Dixons/Kilkenny/Seanachie/Limericks are all the same and pretty consistently good.

Coach and Horses in Millrise is awesome.

Yeah Dixons is good. I live in the SW so I'm familiar with that place. The biggest surprsie I ever had was the Station 52 pub in Penbrooke/Forest Lawn. 52nd and 17th Ave SE. They have an old cook that makes all his own home made soup. THE BEST pub food I've ever had. Even the pizza is amazing.

Joyce downtown is a nice pub....good food and service. Best Guinness in town, although one of the most expensive as well.

More than happy to pay a bit extra for a properly poured pint. Can't tell you the number of bad ones I've had around town.

Kilt and Caber has awesome nachos and the rest of the menus pretty good as well.
Limericks/Dixon's are always consistent with the quality of food, never had anything awful from there.

Nicastro's on 24th Ave and Edm Tr NE is pretty damn good... the fresh-made italian sausage on nachos is a nice twist.

Thats my local hangout on Wednesdays for wings night, Great place.

Also because Nicastro's was close this Wednesday we went to Jameson's in the NE and it was really good, delicious wings.

I like Dixons..but ever since they got bought out by the mother company that owns all those bars the service AND the food has gone downhill.

Food used to be way above average and the girls used to all be HOT.... you probably got an off day, or just a lousy waitress...other than that though its just another bar.
