Having just sold house I am in the market for a serious new car. Looking for something v fast, coupe, & classy. Looked at the new V6 TT but it doesn't do it for me. I have a budget of up to 40k (would prefer to spend 30k if I can get away with it) Would prefer to buy new or certainly something with balance of mans. warranty.

Anyone any ideas?

how about an accord 6speed v6 coupe? its fast, a coupe, and quite classy imo. the design isnt in your face the way the the TT is, and is more subtle and more like a timeless design.

Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Supercharged, sleak looking, 2 door coupe version. 260 HP and 280 lbs-ft of Torque, brand new for $26 000 USD. Or you can get one that's a year old, 2002 model, and still get the balance of the warranty, for a couple thousand less, I don't really know how much less, but I'll guess around $20 000.

Yeah, but those cost a LOT more. And nothing wrong with an American built car, in my opinion, all cars from all over the world have their ups and downs.

Yeah of course I'd buy the SLK32 before the GTP, but it's a price thing, ya know?

Yeah, but you're pro-Jap-import, so obviously you'll bag on a North American car. If the GTP was built in Japan, you'd have a different opinion.

It's no secret that the majority of this forum is pro-Jap imports. No big deal, but nspatwork shouldn't write off all American cars just because most people here like their imports more.

If he wouldn't mind a 4-door, I'd have suggested the Neon SRT-4.

Have you looked at Inifiniti G35's? 260-280HP, RWD, available 6 speed and around 30K (Going with the assumption that you meant USD too..)

Why not a Nissan 350Z

GM's are cheap...in both sences of the word. even people buying top of the line Corvette Z06 bitch about how the interior is cheap.

for 40USD, I would be deffinatly looking into something imported.

Buy an E36M3 and sink 20 large into it is what I would do...or an S4 and do the same. with that much cake you got alot of options, so post what kind of cars you like :)

I don't find the interior of GMs being "cheap" at all. Obviously they're not Mercedes quality interiors, but they're also not Mercedes prices either.

so are you trying to argue that a Pontiac is as good as any Mercedes?
seems like you're also trying to say that you'd take a Pontiac over a Mercedes if you ever had the chance... ???

Read my above posts before you comment. But to answer your question, no, I'm not saying a Pontiac is as good as a Mercedes. I'm simply saying, the Pontiac is respectivly cheaper than a Mercedes, even if it does have a "cheap interior", it's still not as expensive.

Hey, some people would prefer a Pontiac, so if they choose too, so be it. I'm not one of those people.

For 40 G's M3.

Agreed. But if he wants to stay under 30k (he said he'd like to if possible), the GTP isn't a bad choice at all.

I realise that...... its gunna cost about 40 grand to get into a gto. with tax, title and tags(give or take a few grand)... when its basically the same car as the 2 door gtp just with a different tag. and I understand why they did what they did. just calling em on it cause its alittle shadey

GTO makes 350 HP out of a V8 engine. It's not supercharged either.

It is NOT the same thing.

yankeefan

obviously I know they arent the same car. ones a supercharged v-6 270horsepower the other is v-8 350 horsepower. ones fwd the other is rwd. ones a 2d gtp and the other is a 2door gto... ones not in production anymore and one is.

I wish they woulda just gave the gtp a v8 and made it rear wheel drive. prolly would upped sales alot by just by doing that. is tons of nascar fans who woulda thought that was great. they choose togo another route and I understand why... but as a fan of the 2 door gtps i can still call them on it.

and your right they arent the same car, alls im saying is they are the same car =) they gave the gtp rwd and some steriods and changed the badge. so while your right Ill choose to see it how I see it. and thats cool

and the interior is cheap as fuck. the door panels are about to fall off, the plastic is hard and thin, the interior design is cheesy and looks like it came from an 80s scifi movie, and the ergonomics are simply terrible.

and this is a 1998 model...only 5 years old and already in pieces.
