I have a D-Link Wifi Range Booster G router and it has been working fine. The other day I noticed it dropping out of range. I would lose connecting from time to time.

Then I connected the cable going from the Shaw model to my laptop and that worked fine. The problem of dropping network connection would happen when I go thru the wireless router.

I went thru the process of re-installing the router according to steps entailed on the CD. The problem is still happening where I would lose network connection. Often when I browse the list of available network I would not see my SSID.

Anyidea what might be the problem? As I said it was working fine until the other day. May be I need to phone Shaw first and ask them what it means when the PC light goes off. But it's probably something to do with the router.

Thanks.

2.4ghz?
is there maybe a cordless phone with a 2.4ghz frequency around that could be interferring with your wireless?

I had the exact same problem with my D-Link. I eventually switched to Linksys but had the same prob too. I switched channels and it works fine now but the speed on wireless is always slower than hardwire. Don't know why.

same problem yesterday too and it sounds like we have the same router. Maybe it was Shaw? works fine today.

Have you tried resetting the router? Like holding the reset button down for 10 or 15 seconds or whatever it is?

Yeah reset shaw modem, reset router. Actually re-setup the model. Changed the power bar. Checked my laptop, etc etc. It might be Shaw because what shows up on my available network screen varies from time to time. Yesterday worked all day, today intermittently.

same problem here. something to do with my PS3. How do I get into my router to change settings?

PS3? Hmm I was annoyed, then I went to update the router firmware and since then (3 hours ago) it has been good. Hope that solves it.

interesting. I heard that too. Mine is the Linksys WRT54G...appearantly there's an issue with it and PS3's...but I need to get inside it's settings to change stuff.

go into your browser, if your settings are factory settings, you should be able to punch 192.168.1.1 into your adress bar in your browser. then itll ask for password, i believe its admin/admin, or something, check linksys's website, i forget

Thanks SR20...I tried that...got to the login page....but the guy that originally configured my router for me either mistyped it or left the wrong user id and pw. Dunno what to do now.

theres a button on the back, its small, in the corner, on the left side, push it, it will clear everything.

YES!!! Thank you, SR!!!! I got in and was able to change things. Funny thing is, I'm no further than I was last night when I just hooked up the PS3 with the "easy" method.

But for some reason all day today I couldn't connect to my network. At least I'm back on there.

Still can't figure out the streaming media though. That'll have to wait for another day. Head hurts.

Thanks man.

I had a similar problem when I first set up router where it would intermittently drop signal. I changed my channel settings and problem was fixed. Try channels 1, 6 and 11 and see if it still drops.
