forget crank walk; that crank is gonna be running!

JK! That sounds super sweet. Hope the tranny/driveshafts/everything else holds.

Shouldn't you be using H beam rods? 1000hp might be a bit excessive for I beams, but I guess it depends on how much boost you're planning on. (30-40 psi?)

ahaha 1000whp thats fuckin nuts

but is it nessesary to run 8 1700cc injectors??

cuz a set of 4 1600cc are good for roughly 1100hp correct

wouldnt it be better to run say 1700cc injectors with 800cc seconderis? giving you enough fuel for 1600hp at the flywheel
cause 1000whp with us awd guys is about 1300 at the crank??

and you have to much money :nut: haha

 8 injectors!?! you could have probably achieved your goal with 4 but you want to keep those 18's on there..lol:thumbsup: I can't wait to see this beast own the track again... as in, taking back your title from the pinto guy!!:D

make sure to include some vids of you taking down some crotch rockets for the 08 compilation just to put into perspective how fast this car is!

Good luck Ron!! all the best in 08'

Thanks as far as the Pinto guy I don't consider a race car with domestic drivetrain to be comparable competition. I well also work on the bike slaying vids!:guns:

Steve that 1100Hp is only Crank hp not WHP so there is a big difference especially with the thick gear oil I use in the tranny, transfer case, and rear end. Probably over 20% loss through the drive train.

Here is Pauter expilnation

Years of hands-on experience, working with rods of all shapes and materials, of all types of racing and racing-related abuse, with design failures (and successes), has resulted in a fairly comprehensive file on just what works - and what doesn't - on the subject of high performance connecting rods. From this body of knowledge we have selected and incorporated the elements into what it is we think a great rod should be. Right off, our rod looks different, that's obvious, but for some not so obvious and very good reasons.

For starters, the simple beam design completely eliminates thin and non-uniform cross sections over the total length of the beam. This feature greatly improves resistance to crack-induced metal fatigue. In addition, the non-tapered profile of the beam helps to spread potentially harmful stress over a larger area, dispersing instead of concentrating these destructive loads. The design also efficiently places needed material in critical transitional areas, giving maximum support exactly where it is needed (such as directly under the wrist pin). The streamlined contour also provides subtle benefits in the form of windage reduction. The main beam rib itself continues around the wrist pin boss, perfectly integrating the beam to the pin boss, a small, but important contribution to overall structural unity. Pauter rods are indeed, different by design.

i agree its not comparable at all except displacement wise..
aside from it NOT being an import.. if you weighed as much as he did with the power you have now, you would easily be deep into the 9's...maybe even high 8's!

I just think the "fastest 4cyl" title should always be held by a DSM anywhere!

on big power cars.
Alot of the heavy hitters use billet, swear by it. Others still want the forged stuff.
I talked to a couple of Top Fuel guys in edmonton, they use billet everything.
Then there are some Honda guys who swear forged is the ticket.

and unless dsm drvetrain is more efficent than the gt4's?? we lose more like 28-30% throught the drivetrain

JUN makes billet cranks for the 4g63

Just to update and clear somethings up. My turbo is going to be a "GT42R Killer" hopefully, I won't be running a actual Garrett turbo. I well be running a new Comp Turbo with Proprietary Tech, and hopefully make the same or more power with quicker spool.

My only problem with you calling it a gt42 killer is the fact that many of them are going faster then you, even smaller snails in a lot of cases. I appreciate your car and what it does, but it seems cocky to say "killer"....

How can anyone have run faster then me when I haven't run the car since the project has started? This is my winter project, and there are not many full weight 2G street DSM running more Mph then me at that low of boost and no nitrous period.

No Steve I'm not mad at you but more the system of getting sponsorship. It is very hard, and not all its cracked up to be if you get involved with the wrong companies. I'm luck in that all my sponsors have come from products I was already using and therefor I already new the quality of what I was endorsing.

You have to own link. It's a private board and one of the best sources for real world info and great help. Lots of guys still on there that have moved on from link, but yet still like the private board, no non sense, no retards type of place.. ha Lot of fast smart guys hanging around there, some big names too.

With the counterfeit links kicking around, the cable and forum are what the 600$ is for really. The support and real world experience/help..

Cool build, I just sold my 93 after 7 years of owning it. Everything looks good..except the 9's on 18's part..these cars spin all 4 slicks w/ GT42's let alone rock hard street tires.

Then again, suspension tuning for drag racing seems like taboo for these cars so it could work..just don't drill the wall if she breaks loose at the top of 4th gear 130+MPH...

Let me first state that I have absolutely no affection for DSMs. They don't even rate on my list of favorite cars or whatever. For the most part, I look at 99% of them as mediocre design and construction.

But let me then state that what I DO have an appreciation for is someone who knows what they're doing, and someone who has the motivation and skill to see it through.

As such, I've greatly enjoyed reading this thread, Ron, and I will continue to do so as it continues. This is a good build on a good car going on, and the results will definitely be worth watching. I applaud you on a job well done in the making.

ha.. I was saying to ditch it, I was explaining the board.. Many people on there don't run link, they once did, but have moved onto bigger things, and they still hang out there cause it's prob the only other board then nabr where the big guys hang out. I'm not sure what you mean? The tranny is the same one I have been running for several years now. And yes I well be finishing my parachute and cage this weekend and posting some engine pics. No heat in my shop yet is killing me, along with way to much work being piled up. :(

Nice to see it is still moving ahead! I'm assuming Redlyne_mr2 is wondering what kind of tranny you are running, if not I'm interested... :) I love DSM build ups, that is in my plans for my next build.

I remember talking to him once before about trannies, I can't remember if he went with shep, or if he just bought the parts and did it himself...

I went with a jacks myself, so far so good.

Oh I get you now. There is no drag sequential setups for the car, just stock case and custom gears (dogbox) and yes its still a 5 speed.
