An s2k is nowhere near this type of car thus it's expensive rice. That's all there is to it. Just because someone is dumb enough to pay that much money for a wing doesn't mean it isn't rice.

Someone could pay half the price for a wing that looks almost identical and it'd be ricey but pay way more and it's :bigpimp: .

I think it looks dumb because most those cars are still slow torqueless s2k's. I mean fuck sakes my Legend pretty much keeps up with a stock s2k and my car is slow.

Dunno why people mod them as if they are fast. They are anything but. They look nice and I'm sure they handle great but there is better ways to spend money than buying a crazy expensive gawdy wing.

Calgary is full of very well modified s2k's...But those wings are just :barf:

That yellow s2000 is not mine, but ironically I did get a GT wing (the same one on that yellow s2000) and have already installed it (onto a CF trunk).

GT-wings, people love em or hate em. People who have them, obviously love them, but typically have them either for looks or for function.

It is a perfectly functional piece if you look at it from a competitive motorsporting point of view. Having a "low torque" doesn't exclude the car from benefiting from a GT-WING. The s2000 is a light, rwd car, and the wing does provide very tangible braking and handling performance on the track.

The cars you see on the street aren't utilizing them to their potential, 90% of the time, but some of us do go to the track often, where the benefits are real.

The competition touring s2000 cars don't have these wings on for no reason. Most of them are NA too, with virtually stock engines. If you wanna go tell the J's racing team of engineers that their GT-wing on their 230 whp s2000 is rice, then...ya, to each his own :D.

That's a good break down.
Like many other mods out there, it really comes down to taste. People hate the idea of low offset wheels that aren't supposed to fit and the concept of 'hellaflush'

I think an important thing about it is that the cars posted in here are using quality parts.

Its cool to dislike something, but not to go and bash it like everyone should have the same taste as you. We're all enthusiasts here with different tastes.

Good replies. I didn't expect to get reasonable responses from my posts to be honest. I'm not trying to say that everyone should hate them and that no one should have them. But i looked through my pics of a honda meet I went to at home depot and literally 90% of the s2k's there have one and maybe 2 of the cars look like they actually put it to some use.

Case in point I will provide an example of where I think it does look sick on a car rather than it look ricey and out of place.

I will agree that the car needs some changes before a GT-wing looks more in place.
In my view, they aesthetically complete cars that are lowered, have complete or partial lip kits, and a hardtop. In fact, I think hardtop s2000s look weird without a gt-wing.

Such as these two, who in my opinion, were the only 2 who could pull off that wing.

These both look extremely purpose driven and are obviously aimed at being performance oriented and not just stock with a gt wing.

funny that I was uploading pics of just that while you were writing that post haha. I do like them on some cars don't get me wrong. But on basically stock s2k's, Civics (seriously come on haha) and cars that just have no business having a gt wing they look dumb.

But when someone has a crazy car and needs the downforce then it's clearly function over form and it looks damn sexy.

That is hands down one of the most bad ass s2000's i've ever seen. Woulda been deadly in black or white.

Would also like to point out that most likely an s2000 will be my next car because I want a convertible and ap1's are hella affordable now. But I won't kid myself into thinking it's fast enough to get a wing of that kind hehehe. Hell I don't even like the spoiler I have on my legend and it's quite subdued hehe.

Edit: after seeing the hard topped s2's it's too bad Honda never had a coupe model and a convertible. I would of probably ponied up the cash for a coupe if they looked anything like the ones posted....

That Spoon s2000 is pretty sick, but I personally prefer the OEM-ness of the Mugen car aesthetically. See my sig for a hint as to what my car looks like :).

The CR model is the only s2000 to come with a hardtop, which is kinda-sorta-not-really the coupe version.

i dont know if it matters but i did track my car with and without a GT wing and with the GT wing i got rid of most of the over oversteer...

Argeed, on that car looks like shit. Honestly though its about function but also following the Japanese style of driving a track car on the street. And you may think the s2000 is underpowered and may not need the downforce. But give it a shot at the track with a hardtop/GT wing combo, you will notice much more stability right away. Those last two s2k's are pure sex. Love them. Seems people think I don't like s2k's because I say they are underpowered. I do think they are underpowered (this can be fixed). In my eyes it's a great car and I certainly hope I get to own an ap1 in the not so distant future. To have a reliable, rwd, convertible, 2 seater would be a great thing for me once I move back to the coast.

$1300 usd, its pretty easy to modify that front extension to fit anything, its fiberglass

I love Feel's FD2!
The FWD stagger AME tracers tm-02's and the wing is crazy. I just don't like the shaved tail lights on the trunk area. Looks kind of like an accord.
Ah.. I wish I got a CSX :(

The FA5 is OK too.. I love the wing, but the wheels just don't do the car justice. Seems a little too... high offset? :rofl:

I feel the same way. The tail lights on FD2 (csx) are one of the best looking features on the car. I actually think the shave makes it look more like a focus. Otherwise very nice.

I just don't like big spoilers. It's just me. Most those cars would look better without them in my opinion. But they are still great looking cars. The new civics are nice. I wish I could put the cluster from one in my car haha. But it's probably not even close to possible.
