View Full Version : Red Circle of Death.... Am I F'd?

So I bought a used XBox a few months ago.... last week went red. I dont have the receipt and have no way of knowing the sale date...
Anyway to get warranty on this? Do they repair XBox's?
Am I basically limited to buying a new one??

All I have is the manufacture date (2005-11-27) and the Serial Number... can Future Shop use that info and go from there?

they'll check your serial number and see if it's still under microsoft warranty

there is a 3 year warrenty on your problem. call 1-800-4my-xbox and they will send you a box, you put it in the box, send it back, they send you a new one.

Ok, when you call does everyone get the recording/automated operator? We registered it online.. and called but have yet to talk to an actual person regarding the matter...

i talked to a person when i called in after going through the menus, they just walk you through some trouble shooting steps then if those dont work they get your info and send out the box.

Get your coffin shipped, then go to Wal-mart and buy one. When you get repaired one, return the Wal-mart one. Costs nothing and lets you keep playing.

As mentioned, call 1-800-4-My-Xbox. You don't need a receipt, they'll check your serial number but you should be covered under the 3-year manufacturer's warranty.

Go through the menus and talk to a rep, they'll do some trouble shooting with you (waste of time) and after they come to the conclusion that your console is a paperweight, they'll send you a box.

This usually takes a week, you pack it up, send it back, and it takes about 2-4 weeks to get back.

In the meantime, go to a store and buy another xbox, play it, and when you get your old one back, return the new one. :love:

before you go through the hassle check under the faceplate to make sure the warranty sticker has not been cut or removed, they'll just ship it back if the warranty sticker is tampered with.

Ha! I just killed a fall 2006 Premium today. Serves me right for bragging about zero failures! Luckily I have a core and elite as backups!
