Not sure why this wasnt on the news.. or posted on City Beat.
but on Thursday morning, approx 2:30am a man tried grabbing a friend of mine... walked up from behind and tried to spin her around, luckily she turned around quite fast and hit him with her bag and ran. This was reported to the police, and soon after there were a few cop cars patrolling the area along with Hawcs...(she was walking from the Living Room to her place by the Petro Station...so around 4th St)

Just a heads up to be safe, and please dont let friends (particulary women) walk home alone in the area. (or anywhere else..)Luckily my friend got away unharmed... and it serves as a good reminder.

That's brutal man. Glad your friend is ok. It is pretty sad that people have to feel like prisonners in their own city/neighborhoods. You can not even walk home without having to constantly look over your shoulder. I would like to see an increased Police force on the streets patrolling. It is obvious we need it in this city now.

There have been a couple reports of someone trying to grab/attack women in the beltline area a few weeks back. Maybe he's moved towards Mission, just another reason why Calgary isn't such a great place anymore.

You know what they say, any time you have an area with poor people you will have more crime

hahaha, gosh you guys all make it sound like calgary's gone to hell over a few increased crime stats here and there...not even sure if its "increased" since proportionwise its probably similar, if not better than previous years stats.

Bad news to hear for sure, but glad to see she got away. This area has gotten way worse, I don't even like letting my girlfriend walk to our underground parking alone anymore

Ummm....not to be mean or anything....but this has been in the news for like the past month....why is she still dumb enough to walk home alone, particularly in this area?

i grew up in this area, right off of 4 street, its such a nice area but there are some sketchy people because its so close to downtown, gotta be careful

Theres more and more homeless in this area. I think theyre coming here because its safer than downtown for them especially to sleep at night. Lindsay Park is pretty much a homeless park these days. The odd time Ive been at Talisman Centre theres been bums around outside and even hanging out inside. And theres quite a few campers in the areas next to the Elbow River where theres public property.

Kind of true but a little mean, no doubt she shouldn't have been by herself, its kind of asking for trouble at that time of morning
