Hey folks. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for suspension installs in cowtown? It'll be for a Volvo C30. A Mazda shop would probably work too, as the P1 chassis is shared with the Mazda 3. I've been trying to call Tunerworks but they won't answer their phones. Cheers.

I would say just go drop by tunerworks, also if you dont have the suspension yet they can probaly get it for you

I dropped by yesterday and they were closed. And still not answering phones today. Maybe they took an extended vacation.

They just moved shops, so that's probably why you're having trouble getting ahold of them. They're definitely the guys to talk to though.

I went to their new shop and it was shuttered.

On a 2008 car, it'll be a piece of cake to do it yourself. You'll have no problems with seized bolts/bushings.

I've been in touch with Auto Leader, who do the installs for Tunerworks. They seem like a good crew.

If you dont mind me asking, how much is their labour?

$100/hour. At first they quoted me two hours per corner(!), which is over the top. But he followed up with an estimate of 4 to 6 hours for a full coil over install. It's a lot more than I paid last time I had coil overs put on a car, so if anyone has alternate recommendations, I'm listening.

do it yourself, new car means no breaking bolts,
take it out and put it back in

I have neither the expertise nor the space to do a proper coil over install, which is why I'm looking for a professional shop to do it.

That's so expensive

Give Mike Perret a call at TireCraft. It's the store right off Macleod Trail and 57th AVE next to Silverhill Acura. They've done suspension work on all my cars. Highly recommended!!!

option-import quoted me $250 to swap my coilovers to my stock suspension (1 of the shocks in my coilovers is totally blown) and with their 25% off promotion, it'll come down to $187 for the whole installation!

no experience from them yet but from what i've heard from a couple of people, they seem to be pretty good guys. maybe you could give them a try.

Thanks, I'll call them too! I want a good price, but at the same time I'm wary of bargain basement. The coil overs will require a lot of finessing and I'm also having new control arms installed for some camber adjustment (in addition to needing a standard alignment).

Why dont you give my friend ADRIAN a call. He runs a small little shop and I know the mechanic he's got is good at what he does. Tell him Peter sent you and he'll probably work a nice cash deal with you.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post up his number so drop me a pm or email me at [email protected]

I would suggest buying the suspension from the states. When I was looking for my coilovers, Calgary retailers including Tunerworks, Concept 1, Two Square and CMS all quoted me over $3000 for parts alone, (some claiming they had to order them direct from Germany) and I bought them for $1100 brand new from a reputable dealer in the states (and that was when the dollar wasn't at par). I have full warranty too. Take a good look in the states before you buy car parts in Calgary in my opinion. Everything I have bought so far has been durastically cheaper down there.
